Cubs send righty reliever Scott Effross to NYY, per Rosenthal and Jeff Curry from YES. I wonder if there’s anything more to this package.

Good news is, we did not even hear about both the Verlander and Grienke deals until after the deadline passed.

    There is still time.

I do think the team will need to give up more than in the past, or even more than they expected a few days ago.

But when you have a chance at a World Series you must maximize that chance.

Outside of Hunter Brown, Pedro Leon, and Korey Lee every prospect in the system has multiple guys who are comparable.

Can't give any of those 3 guys up for a rental but other than that make them an offer they can't refuse.

This team can win a World Series if they get 1 more impact bat.

Chas has been acceptable as a CF and #8 hitter. Diaz has been good in LF. Yuli has been not as bad recently.

If only 2 of those guys had to start instead of 3 that would be fine as long as the addition is significant run producing upgrade.

Offer Washington Colin Barber ( replaced by Drew Gibson), Alex Santos ( McDermott or Arrighetti) and Tyler Whitaker ( Melton, Dirden, Clifford) for Bell.

    The Astros:

#5, #9, and #10 prospects per MLB pipeline
    #9, #11, #15 per Baseball America

3 top 15 prospects for a rental is borderline crazy but they all have comparable guys to replace them in the organization.

How many of them will be regular contributors on the Astros in the next couple of years anyway?

It's that's what it takes get it done.

This may be an annoying and impossible request, but I admittedly have not seen a ton from those rumored to be sought by Houston…anyone have good historical comps for some of these guys?

Mullins seems like a Michael Bourn with slightly more pop.

I think it's fairy to say that recent history suggests that the trade deadline players the Astros often end up acquiring are surprises not necessarily being heavily discussed in the days leading up to the deadline, especially the ones we would characterize as "splashes". Of course, the farm capital we had available a couple years ago is not the farm capital the franchise is working with now (ranked 27th in the MLB) thus all the talk about starters, specifically SP's, being available in trade

For a quality leverage reliever with 5 more years of team control that seems cheap.

I don’t really understand Losing Urquidy and Jake, I know Lance will return but makes me nervous.

He has 101 hits in 100 games... that's not exactly a world beater.

They aren't likely to lose both..... but if they do, it means they are really confident in Brown and Lance and possibly Bielak.

Click is notorious for valuing pitching and defense.

how were we able to trade for those guys after the trade deadline and yet they were still eligible for post season play. Did they have to get waived first? And if so, how does a guy like Verlander or Greinke clear waivers? I know they made a rule change in 2019 regarding this but this has always secretly confused me pretty much my while life lol.

edit: I replied to the wrong post. Sorry.

The Cubs are claiming they view Wesneski as a #3-4 starter under long term control and that is more valuable for a sidewinding right hand reliever.

I think the Yankees will end up winning this trade, but the Cubs are not overly concerned about middle relievers.

How are the Yankees and Dodgers able to have loaded farm systems picking at the bottom of 1st rd and trading a bunch of prospects each deadline??

Anxious to see the return. Would’ve loved to see Houston get him.

Big cost. Rogers is almost as good as Hader. Then Lamet, a former mlb top 25 prospect, and their current #14 and #25 prospects which is big since their system is deep.
