1 HUGE problem with that. It's not 1.3 years of Odorizzi It's 0.3 years of Odorizzi PLUS paying him another $3 25 M ($4.25M if he gets 9 more starts) to file free agency. 0% chance he takes his option unless he is hurt.
I heard the Astros arewaiting to see how LMJ does before a trade happens he is supposed to make one more start either today or tommorrow. Also heard they love Bell.
If this actually happened, the ground would open up under Chavez Ravine and Stankee Stadium, and completely swallow those clowns putting them out of their misery
Soto and Tucker have almost identical stats this year. That would be a horrible trade for the stros, especially taking on Corbin crazy salary. Urquidy alone is an overpay for Bell. Siri has better trade value than people think and Leon is borderline untouchable for me. Take Tucker out and add one of our tier 2 pitchers and I’d do it. Urquidy, Leon, Siri, Bielak would be about right, because of the Corbin factor.
Soto is a generational talent but no way I give up Tucker +for him. Kyle needs to be an Astros lifer right next to Yordan.
I was trying to limit it to the game acceptable proposals. Bielak has 0.0 EV and Tucker has 96.2 in the game. One thing the game doesn't do is evaluate the AAV/Soft Cap consequences of a trade. It also has a poor Prospect/MLB value ratio. There is little chance either side would agree with this. Nats want too much and the team that pays their price will regret it. Unless they have an owner that likes to lose money like the Mets new owner.
What would a Soto trade based around Urquidy look like, and could we be competitive in that arena? I would think a player like Urquidy is just about the max of what WAS is looking to add as far as current MLB players is concerned…it’s antithetical for these teams vying for the postseason to really gut their ML squad to add Soto, but I understand why WAS wants some level of proven players in the deal. I love Urquidy and would hate to lose him, but trades must hurt for both sides to be happy. I guess I may struggle with why WAS would want Urquidy as the ML-ready headliner, he is a great SP3 with a few more seasons left…but is that better than Gleybar and the rest of the market? Urquidy-Brown-Siri-Leon-Whitley-Perez-JJ plus a flier?
https://www.baseballtradevalues.com/teams/459/ It's supposed to weed out ridiculous Trade proposals. But as with all things, garbage in equals garbage out. No player has a $100M/yr field value that it currently gives Soto. A team could only field 2.3 players.
Between Diaz and Montero… Click’s secondary additions in last year’s trade deadline have paid major dividends. His biggest mistake was not adding a “can’t play Toro against us” clause.
I’m not really excited to trade the farm just for the right to pay Soto 500 mil. Would rather upgrade at 3 positions than 1.
This would work for me... Jose Urquidy to the Cubs for Ian Happ and David Robertson Whitley and Cerny to the Nationals for Josh Bell Altuve 2B Happ CF Alvarez LF Bell DH Tucker RF Bregman 3B Yuli 1B Pena SS Maldy C
In theory, all free agents receive what they are worth and would have a ZERO excess value at that point. Therefore the game thinks Soto is underpaid by $70M/yr even as he makes $30M/yr.
Sure feels like the Urquidy/Siri for Contreras/Happ/RP deal Nook brought up a few pages ago still makes a lot of sense for both sides. That deal plus Odo for prospects and Whitley/Cerny for Bell would make for a really good deadline.
