great stats, looks like a perfect fit and he is only 25. he can grow with the core of yao and tmac.

i know the rumors have been about fisher having an agreement to sign here, or arn tellem swaying barry to come here. we know hudson and ward have already said they wanted to come here. but i didnt here anything about arroyo....

why do you think the rockets are not interested? he would be my second choice after barry.

Like Arroyo... Can stroke it from anywhere, hits clutch shots, very tough kid. Not willing to get in a bidding war with the Jazz who are way under the cap though... But if THEY make an offer to a restricted FA, we should consider maybe offering Arroyo a contract in that period.

Plus, he's Puerto Rican. He might get us a good look at J-Lo.

I think the Jazz prefer Felipe Lopez, but they can match offers on Arroyo now - so they control that process and price. I'd love to pick up Arroyo. I think it would require a trade. Jazz need to get something in return for giving him up.

The best I can come up with for us is we send them Mo T for Harpring and re-signed Arroyo. Mo T is 8.5 mil Harpring is 5.5, that would put Arroyo at 3. To sweeten the deal, we could give them the TE in exchange for future draft picks - essentially, for nothing.

Then the Jazz have a big forward that can score to play with Kirilenko, allowing AK to move back to 3, and they have the TE to chase.

Another way - if the bidding goes up for Arroyo past the MCE - we could offer to acquire Carlos for more via the TE. Utah comes away from the process with an asset, istead of nothing. As a reward, Utah could trade us Harpring for Spoon, or Boki, Pike and AG. Whatever.

Just match the salaries. That one is certainly possible. Utah would probably go for Boki + Pike + AG. We'd lose the Bokinator's potential but we'd get a guy that would contribute immediately, that shoots lights out, plays hard defense, rebounds, passes the ball, runs plays, coaches on the floor - perfect JVG guy.

Even if we get Brent Barry for the MCE - I'd really like to see the Rockets do that trade. It'd be good to have Carlos Arroyo and Harpring back there too, with Tracy. That would make the lineup rock-solid in the backcourt, along with JJ.

So we'd have to get a Collier or Braggs vet min guy for backups in the frontcourt. Big deal. Or we'd have to use 1.7 mil "other" MCE to play with for a McDyess perhaps. Ok for this year.

Fix the front court backups long term next year. They're just backups. This would fix the backcourt for a while.

Harpring and Arroyo are both too talented to give up Mo. Although the Jazz already have Andrei and Lopez, who knows, other teams have done dumber things... maybe if we trhew acouple draft picks in it will push the deal... its not like we care about future draft picks anymore...

How about Howard and Pike and a pick for Harpring and Arroyo?

I think that if Howard can't get Harpring straight up (though I do think that's possible), we won't be able to get Arroyo and lose Piatkowski.

But Arroyo and Harpring are both tough, blue collar guys that would look good as Rockets.

I would love that. I like Matts game. he has Soft hands for a Realtivly big guy!. Also his money from beyond the Arch. Has some crafty low post moves to go with that!. I doubt the Jazz would give you a Second call with that offer though!

Howard and Lue for a re-signed Arroyo sounds good too.

Then we'd have to go out and sign Keon Clark with the MLE, and we're looking at:

    Yao/Clark
    MoT/Clark/Spoon
    JJ/Boki/AG
    T-Mac/Pike
    Arroyo/Gaines/Sign someone

Stay away from Harpring and Arroyo! I can't re-emphasize this enough! Products of Jerry Sloan's system never pan out as well when they leave his system. Players overacheive under him!

Look at Shandon Anderson, Donyell Marshall, Bryon Russell, Karl Malone!

Harpring had "doesn't suck" status before the Jazz, now he's a scoring option? It's the system, not the players!

Those are bad examples. They had a different cast of characters.

Would Kirilenko not be a valued asset?
