Yeah I think Urquidy is more valuable to us than he is on the trade market, send Jake away instead please

I'm not the world's biggest Urquidy fan, but are 200 at bats of Josh Bell worth the final 3 years of control the team has on Jose?

Bell is a rental, a very good rental, but a rental nonetheless.

No. Urquidy is worth more than Bell

He's like a modern day Cy Backe.... would be hard to give him up as he seemingly always brings it in October. Gave a great interview after the game today, I hope he stays and continues to grow, contribute, and rack up WS wins.

I'm not sure there's value out there for Urquidy. It's an overpay for 2 months of Bell. Maybe Reynolds since there's control...

There is value in having 4 young cheap starters. McCullers is hurt every other year and Verlander is a wild card for next year...

I would rather deal Brown and given age and control, he may have more value...

That's the point I was trying to make.

You can argue two years of Bell is worth more than 3 of Jose, but not two months.

    Just a fleeting thought...

Hunter Brown, Bielak, and Mcdermott for Xander Boagerts?

DH Boagerts and put Yordan in left?

Slap his .389 ob% in the 2 hole and Yordan right behind him?

If Brantley comes back we can rotate him in some as 4th outfielder...

    Altuve
    Boagerts
    Alvarez
    Bregman
    Tucker
    Pena
    Meyers
    Gurriel
    Maldonado

    Top 6 would be filthy...

There's no way Urquidy is going for Bell sorry.

I think he is going to the Cubs in a mega deal

Astros would not be trading Urquidy for Bell. Would have to be something else

What if the Astros are able to re-sign him?

    Maybe I wasn’t being clear:

Urquidy for Bell is a massive overpay.

Urquidy for Contreras is an overpay too.

The time to trade both of these players from the cubs and nats perspective was last year.

We could achieve the same result in free agency, you’re still giving up Jose for two months of Bell.

Yea, it's not like the NBA where you are acquiring bird rights. If there is mutual interest then you just sign him.
That being said, would 2 months of Bell THIS YEAR be more beneficial than 2 months of Jose THIS YEAR.

Urquidy is a free agent in 2026. Last 86 innings has a 3.39
He’s a great pitcher and would command solid trade value.

    Brown
    Lee
    Leon
    Whitley

I would do it if I was assured of being able to lockup
Which is why I would trade Garcia before I traded Urquidy.

Urias beats women… we already had a Mexican pitcher that beat women. Astros fans didn’t really like him… but Dodgers fans have lower ethical standards I guess.

    This.

Happ, Contreras and Efross for Urquidy is more likely.

Contreras gives the Astros a bat behind the plate or possibly at first for the playoffs.

Happ gives them a CF this year and next. That buys the Astros some time for Gilbert or Leon to develop.

Effross gives the Astros a cheap and controlled bullpen arm for years.

The Cubs get a good #3 starter under team control for 3 years… all for a catcher that is going to be a free agent, a middle reliever and an outfielder they have considered non tendering in the past.
