Seeing it tomorrow night and I'll be honest my expectations are very low. I though US was a better idea than an actual movie, Get Out was solid but I wasn't blown away by it.....
Saw it last night and I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Performances and cinematography were great the story is going to split people. I won't say too much about the plot because Peele does a really good job of set you up for something then flipping the script. For anyone who wants a spoiler....feel free Spoiler: Plot Spoiler Spoiler: Just making sure.... Its a UFO film in the first half but when the reveal occurs it's.........Space Jaws......tons of allusions to Jaws beforehand, 2nd half of the film borrows a lot of beats from that film... . Overall I really enjoyed it but like I said before none of his films have scared me, this one is funnier than anything else..... A-
I spoilered the movie for myself via Wikipedia. On paper it just sounds dumb. So far Get Out seems to be the only movie of Peele that was truly good.
I’m probably gonna see this tomorrow I thought Get Out was gonna be a joke film, but it surprised me I liked US for about the 1st 2/3 of the film, same with Candyman
The pacing was bad in this movie. It takes about an hour before the plot goes anywhere, and that hour of setup is largely irrelevant to the central plot. It serves some symbolism for the main themes, but there's not enough importance to the main plot for any payoff. Instead of 2.5 hours, this movie could've been 1 hour. I have other minor gripes that I don't want to get into in case it's too spoilery. But a great comment I saw on reddit was if you kept everything the same but replaced Jordan Peele's name with M. Night Shyamalan, this movie would flop hard.
Very mixed but I will probably see it, I loved Get Out so I will give him a chance..............plus I have been craving REAL movie theatre popcorn!! Some of you probably know this but I was listening to pancakes on 610 a few months ago and he said his trick with the popcorn is to put a straw in the middle of the popcorn, push it down and then let the butter go down the straw so there is butter in the middle and the bottom and not just the first 2 inches.....gotta try that
