Draymond is not a low character guy. He has antics on/off the court but his commitment to winning and team ball are unquestioned. Artest is a massive talent, how long did it take for him to mature? Like not until he was 26/27/28. That's at least 5 years from now for kPJ.

Your obsession with me is embarrassing.... are you another Granville sock puppet? If so, at least that would make some sense.

i'm leery of signing him to a large deal right now because of the playoffs. meaning that, in the end, how he performs under pressure in the playoffs is what will matter most.

so what if he gets benched for a quarter due to matchups? what if one series we need him to mostly distribute and defer to jalen/jabari/etc on scoring? what if he just gets frustrated again and starts giving up on plays when it actually matters? based on his behavior till now, it's hard to have confidence we'll be able to fully depend on him

and this goes along with the reports we have from Nook that behind the scenes several of our assistant coaches have been unhappy with him this past season

Just ignore that bum.. no need for us even bother with him. Let’s just enjoy the great years we have ahead of KPJ at the starting PG!!

I don’t pretend to catch every supposed insiders post around here BUT what I have seen from Nook has been vague at best. Not saying it’s not true, but unless specific incidents are relayed, saying a person had a bad attitude or another person was unhappy with them is too vague to really be credible.

I have employees who work under me who I am unhappy with from time to time or whom I think sometimes have a bad attitude but that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t want them working for me. After all, they are people - not work robots. They have good and bad days just like all of us. Doesn’t matter if they are making minimum wage, six figures or millionaires.

I think he makes north of 30 million. Expect 4 years 125 million. Like it or not, he’s the best player on the team right now and 30 million is the going rate.

I don't think he takes a deal where he's not overpaid. It's not the pattern of such a player early in their careers. I hope he does, but I find it unlikely he takes less than Dejounte, whom he's always viewed as his counterpart (they've competed against each other for years) and I'm sure he believes he's better than Dejounte.

I worry that a contract year will not be great for his defensive focus, but that's how the businesses prefer to do it so he's going to do what it takes to get a big offer from another team that we would match.

I really want this to go well with him and there's a good chance it happens.

his talent is not in question. his head and attitude are obvious issues though. if he manages to finish this coming season without any recurring flare-ups then i'd agree on paying him for his talent

i trust Nook's track record here. don't recall if he mentioned specific incidents on this, but the gist was that kpj had arguments/flare-ups with assistant coaches, plus not participating in additional practices when asked to. we've also had reports he's been working hard this summer, so maybe the light has finally gone on in his head... it is a contract year

    Lol, am I now?

I do love that you're so desperate for my attention that you'll make multiple responses hoping that senpai will notice you if the first is ignored. You are a uniquely pathetic Stan.

Anyway, all of this has been fun, but I think it's time to stop letting you derail the thread.

And if we were just going on the analytics, we wouldn't cherry-pick the stats that show well. Since the season ended, a lot of fans have been guilty of doing just that. I don't have a problem acknowledging there are some parts of his game he's really great at. I actually agree with the "potential" designation and hope he turns into a stud. But he hasn't done that yet, and I actually think he's farther away from getting there than some think (to the point where I'm not certain he ever will get there). Take this stat, for example:

"KPJ was 39th percentile in points per possession in ISO last season, Jalen Green was 80th."

Now I don't think anyone who watched last season needs to be reminded of how poor KPJ looked orchestrating the offense for most of the season and how poor especially he was when put in iso. That's a problem given how much of the modern NBA relies on strong iso play. If he's going to be the PG, it is not unreasonable to wonder aloud whether that's the right fit for him if he can't do those things well. And it's not being a "hater", as some like to say, to wonder if he'd be better in a different role.
