Adonal Foyle: He's going to be one of the hotter names in free agency for a couple of reasons. One, he's big and is a shot blocker. Two, he's willing to settle for a mid-level contract, making him available to everyone. He's high on about 20 teams' lists, including the Warriors. Look for the Magic to get involved in the bidding, offering either Cuttino Mobley or Drew Gooden as part of a sign-and-trade. Mobley can't be packaged in a deal for two months, but he can be moved individually.

Derek Fisher: Sources claim the Rockets are very high on Fisher and will target him with their mid-level exception as a replacement for Steve Francis. The Raptors also will be in the hunt.

Brent Barry: As an unrestricted free agent, Barry will get the final say as to who he will play for next season but as it stands now, he has no idea. "I just don't know what's going on at this point," said Barry in the Seattle Times. "I'm nervous, excited and anxious at the same time. I haven't had any contact with people. Arn (Tellem) has heard some things, but officially I can really start seeing what's out there (today)." Barry denied reports that the Sonics had already offered him a three-year deal for $18 million and acknowledged that the Nuggets have been after him for awhile.

    Trade fallout

Steve Francis and Tracy McGrady officially changed places Wednesday. I said a little more than a week ago that I believed this was a home run deal for the Rockets and a pretty bad one for the Magic. Nothing has happened in the past 10 days to make me change my mind.

Looking over the Orlando roster, I think you can argue the team has a shot at being worse than it was last season. Francis is a good player, but if the Rockets weren't convinced he's a great fit in the backcourt with Mobley, why should the Magic be? The small forward position is still a big question mark. And when did Kelvin Cato become an all-star? We've read more propaganda about Cato, who averaged a whopping 6.1 ppg and 6.8 rpg last season -- and those were near career highs. Does anyone think he's going to do better when he's not playing next to Yao?

An undersized backcourt, two stiffs in the middle, two small forwards with a history of injuries and two young power forwards don't make a contender. The Magic are preaching patience on this trade. They claim other deals will follow. There's a chance Mobley, Cato and Gooden all could be gone by the start of training camp.

"We've just finished the second act in a six-act play," GM John Weisbrod said. "I'm very pleased with what's happened in the last 10 days. The deal and the draft all fit with what we're doing. But we're not done. We've got other things prepared to fall into place."

I'm willing to hold off a little longer. But if something doesn't get done soon, Magic fans are going to find the fact that Weisbrod didn't get along with T-Mac a tough explanation for watching their team disintegrate in front of their eyes.

Arn is also McGrady's agent too..

and the Nuggets shouldn't steal Barry from us, we need him more

Mobley for Foyle thats ridiculous! Put Mobley on a team by himself and he could go for 25+

also a quick note: Chad Ford sucks!

Yeah right, Toroto trying to compete with us for Fisher. It will be a really tight race, right?

Thank you for the article, BTW.

Make sure to use baseball metaphors to describe every deal, the way Chad does. Home run this, touchdown that. That'll show what a hip NBA insider you are.

Well, I guess I was wrong about Denver wanting Brent Barry. I would love to have Barry. But I also wouldn't mind having Fisher and Foyle.

    What the?

We're reading propaganda about Cato? Indeed, and when did the Ministry of Information begin publishing all of this pro-Cato propaganda and when can I read some? Who's spewing it? Karl Rove? Michael Moore? Muhammed Saeed al-Sahaff?

Well, since Weisbrod evidently likes being involved in play production, maybe he manage some of the productions at Disney World when the Magic finally wise up and can him.

I'm not sure about that. Fisher already had all the rings he needed to collect. What he's chasing after is money. It's time to cash in with the rings he earned in LAL.

You know the Ewing says: We earned more and we spent more.
