I found this story http://money.cnn.com/2004/06/30/news/newsmakers/stern/ Stern's show adds stations Embattled shock jock to remain over the air, says he won't leave for satellite. June 30, 2004: 9:18 AM EDT NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - Shock jock Howard Stern, under pressure for broadcasts termed by some as indecent, said Wednesday that he will not leave over-the-air radio for satellite and that his show will air in nine more markets. Stern said he will be returning to five markets -- Pittsburgh, San Diego, West Palm Beach, Fla., Orlando, Fla., and Rochester, N.Y. -- after having been pulled off stations owned by Clear Channel Communications (CCU: Research, Estimates). Stern said his show will also air in Houston, Austin, Texas, Tampa, Fla., and Fresno, Calif. The announcement comes more than two months after Stern was kicked off six Clear Channel stations. Earlier this month, Clear Channel agreed to pay a record $1.75 million fine to settle indecency charges. At Wednesday's press conference, Stern said he would continue to honor his contract with Infinity Broadcasting -- the Viacom Inc. unit that syndicates his show. He went out of his way to praise Infinity -- especially outgoing CEO Mel Karmazin -- for backing him through the indecency crackdown. _
So yeah, when does this go into effect? Haven't listened to him since they dropped him in New Orleans for a local morning show.
If this station can add Stern, surely they can add the funniest show in the history of radio... see my sig
So, its a whole format change for 650AM...now to be: KIKK-ASS 650 Hot Talk Radio I'll lament the passing of Business Talk but the truth is with that weak signal the only way they can get anyone to listen will be 14 year olds jerking off to the sounds of Lesbian's buzzing their vibrators. Howard: You look hot, let me see your body..take off your top. Every stinkin day for 23 years.
Howard completes Houston as the Silicone Capital of the World. I can just see people putting 650 AM into their presets. Too bad he is not on a more powerful and/or FM station. It would be funny if he sent a message to all the morning shows in Houston
Hot Talk 650 could look like this: Howard Stern Tom Leykis Don & Mike Phil Hendrie, etc. Not a bad line-up. http://www.radio-info.com/
A guess on possible "Hot Talk" line-up: Stern Sunrise-11am (as stated in the Chronicle) G. Gordon Liddy 11am-2pm (11-1 Live, 1-2pm Taped) Don & Mike 2pm-6pm or ending at 5pm (Live from D.C.) Tom Leykis 5 or 6pm start- Sunset (Live from L.A. 5pm-9pm) For more info.... www.howardstern.com www.liddyshow.us www.1067wjfk.com (For Don & Mike) Leykis has a site, but probably shouldn't be linked on a family site.
A lot of what you guys are saying is very actively being discussed but I kinda can't say how far we are into talks with any of the programs. For all of you guys that hate Stern and the whole format coming to Houston I envourage you to continue not listening to 650 AM. For the rest of you it should be fun entertainment. You guys would simply not believe some of the messages and emails we have received. There are some HATEFUL people in Houston and it's peculiar that I share a faith and a vote with. As soon as I get the info I will pass it on, as always. Chance
I thought you guys might like a sneak peak at the tease campaign Frank and I put together over the weekend. Howard Stern Song Teaser
