A guy on 610 came on at about 9:15 p.m. and said that Fisher agreed verbally with the Rockets. Is this true?

I respect Fisher and his toughness; but I don't think that he can bring enough offense to the Rockets.

T-mac will take care of our offense, we just need someone who wont turn it over and will make open shots, fisher would fill that offensive role nicely

Well, I hope that the 3 pointer won't be as important as before. Because Fisher can't shoot 3's.

He barely shoots 40%. I think we need to define what it means to be able to "make open shots".

Plus fisher and Lue would give us the shortest PG tandem in the League. Lue is 5'11 and Fisher is 6'0" or something like that.

You must have lost your mind; and please don't post his numbers, I don't need to see them.

What I mean, is that the Rockets offense won't rely to heavily on the 3 pointer. Last I checked, Fisher shoots 3 pointers at about 30%.

He's a career 37% 3 point shooter. Thats not too shabby.

He had an off year last year, and understandably so; losing his starting job. He has averaged roughly 40% the previous three years and averaged nearly 42% in the playoffs this past season. Derek is the ideal point guard to run our team for the price.

Edit: (He had an off year last year, and understandably so; losing his starting job) Which was a huge mistake for the Lakers.

Tyronn Lue is a 38% career 3 point shooter without the benefit of playing with Shaq and Kobe.

Tyronn Lue makes $1.5 million/year and is 2 years younger.

So why do we want Derek Fisher again? So he can flop all over the court?

He's not bad for a career but last year he only shot 29.1 %.

I hope it was because of the less playing time with Payton there. It might be a rythm thing. Fisher does bring toughness.

Meanwhile, the Sonics are trying to re-sign free agent guard Brent Barry. Seattle has offered Barry a three-year, $18 million deal. However, at least one team is planning to offer the 32-year-old Barry $20 million for three years.

Well, Barry is out of our salary range.

Plus, he is not a big assist guy. He averages 3 assits per year. And last year he only averaged 2.3 assists. He's averaged 23 minutes a game for his career. So extend his playing time to 32 games; he gets us 3.2 assists a game.

Even Moochie Norris was getting the Rockets 3 assists playing 17 minutes a game. And that guy sucked.

Why is Fishers so great other than being an excellent actor and as tough as nails!!

Im glad you'll leave it at that. He is at best a marginal upgrade.

    He is a superior what??

    Shooter? Passer? Rebounder?

Tell me what he's really better at other than flopping?

I just want Brent Barry, but thats not gonna happen anymore. I'd rather have Hudson than Fisher
