For the last two draft we found two gems in Sengun and Eason. I think Green is a Superstar and Smith is a Star.. The season depends on Porter if he plays to his talent(20 points a game and 8 assist) and then we play in the Play In game...taste of playoffs...if not we need to lose again and hope to get Scooter the Point Guard in the draft. Green is our #1 option..Porter #2 option and then Jabari #3
My fear is Porter = Michael Carter-Williams the more team structure the less great he looks as a player. The other players know their roles but Porter not so much.
Green Jabari KPJ would be my guess. Sengun could overtake KPJ. KPJ and Sengun could be better than Jabari. I think Green is the clear cut best player on the team.
Why should they move Tate? He has couple years under his belt. One of the hardest if not the hardest working player on the team. Maximum effort on both ends. Makes winning plays. Has winning mindset. Has Defensive mindset. Good character and locker room presence/leadership. Just signed team friendly contract. Three point shooting can improve. Can be inserted with Jabari in a stingy defensive lineup. So what’s the downside here?
There isn’t any dispute KPJ has talent. We saw it when he first came here and put up 50. That’s not In question. But like guys of years past such as Brandon Jennings, Larry Hughes, or Michael Beasley who have either had issues with consistency or off court distractions Does his game translate to wins? Does he make the team better? Does he have a winning mindset? Can he be more consistent? That’s up to him. I think if he simplifies his game he can be very effective in this league.
First, just like in life, no one wants the least of anything. Porter does a lot of things very well. I noticed that his play seems to excel when the game is chaotic or competitive. This is both wonderful and bad at the same time; he also at times seems to lose interest or let his emotions take him away from his responsibilities. The starting point guard can’t have inconsistent play because the whole team is affected. Maybe if he had a different role on the team he would be a more complete player making him as good or better than anyone on the team because the talent is there. Just my observation & opinion.
Those are interesting questions....I wonder if you'd ask them about all of the young players, or just KPJ. When it comes to making the team better, if you check his on/off splits, KPJ was a net positive to the team when he was on the court, he made both the offense and defense better when he was on the court compared to when he was off the court. In fact, he had one of the most positive influences when on the court on the entire team among players that played significant minutes. Basically every other young player that played significant minutes was the exact opposite, overall the team was worse when they were on the court. So it would seem the answer to your questions are.... Yes, his game translates to wins, yes he makes his team better, yes he has a winning mindset. As to consistency, that typically comes with age and experience. This upcoming season hopefully we start to get those answers about the other young players.
It is always interesting to see real NBA guys, current players and ex players give K P J his dues while cc fans consider him an after thought
