I think I just shed a tear... the Rockets really are doing EVERYTHING they can to bring a championship home.

I'm loving being a Rox fan right now!

Marc Vandermeer on 610AM reported that Derek Fisher has expressed intrest to play from the Rockets. And I doubt his source is a Lakers message board.;)

When JVG first came here, I remember discussions about how in his system the 2 and 3 are basically interchangeable.

I would soil myself if we ran Fish at the 1, Barry at the 2, T-Mac at the 3, with JJ off the bench to back up the 2/3 spots.

Actually, I think I just soiled myself a little bit while typing this.

That would rock. I think Fisher is a much better aquisition then Barry.

Why would he want to come off the bench in Denver? Just because his brother is there? Doubt it. And I doubt that Denver can or would give him a multi-year contract to that. And how can he follow his good friend Ray Allen when he played with him last year? If he wanted to stay with Ray Allen he would have re-upped with Seattle right away.

All that, I like BB and would be happy to see him play for a team he once ballboyed for!

I actually think that this type of scenario makes a whole lot more sense than signing Barry to play the 1. Imo having Barry as the starting PG is a very dangerous gamble. The Rockets have already had difficulties in the past defending quick PGs ie. Tony Parker, Jason Williams (Mem), Stephon Marbury, Steve Nash, Andre Miller, etc. and this would only add to the problem. I would much rather go with a player like Derek Fisher at the PG spot that can do a better job of keeping up with those types of players.

That being said, an additional veteran wing player like Brent Barry or Eric Williams would make a whole lot of sense. Tracy McGrady will play approx 40 MPG; however, depending on Jim Jackson to put in a full season at 40 MPG again is not a good idea imo. A veteran player who can share time with JJ, McGrady, etc is very essential. I realize Boki needs his chance, but going into next season and hoping Boki can give a solid 30 MPG each night is a very risky proposition imo.

Problem is, Rockets really have 3 needs, a starting PG who can fit the system, a veteran wing player who can shoot, defend and be able to share time at the 2/3 spots along with a physical PF/C type in the frontcourt. In order to fill these needs, they only have two commodities (the MLE and the TE). Basically, what this means is that they either have to not fill all 3 needs or find a player who will fill one of the needs and work on the cheap.

same here. i think fish would be better running the point since he's used to playing with two superstars (kobe & shaq). and i think the tmac-yao combo is not that much different from kobe and shaq and i think they can be better coz they are still young and have lots of time to grow, plus, yao is an unselfish player and tmac said on his press conf yesterday that he WILL do everything just to win and that means chopping some of his points production and they are not like the ego-centered duo of shaq and kobe. if we ever get d-fish and bb at the same time, THAT WOULD TOTALLY ROCK! we can play d-fish at point, bb at sg, tmac at sf, howard at pf, and yao at center with jj as our 6th man for either sg/sf, with boki, mo, lue, and a backup center.

I believe we also have the million dollar exception (in actuality, $1.7 million). We definitely got a buyers' market at the moment, so I'd think we could get Barry and Fisher with the TE and MLE, and then sign up a McDyess, a C. Anderson, maybe even a Skinner type for the $1.7 mil exception. Also possible we could get Barry for the MLE, Fisher for part of the TE, and still have a good $3.something mil to get a big guy. I wouldn't worry too much.

Ya I agree we could get Fisher, Barry, McDyess. My ideal summer though would be Fisher, Barry and Skinner or Fisher, Williams, Skinner. THAT would be huge imo. I think at this stage it is questionable whether or not McDyess can play a full season, though for 1.7 mil its worth a shot. However, I think Brian Skinner is about to really hit his stride and become a complete beast for the next 4-5 yrs. He finally got some legit playing time this season and really produced. I could easily see Skinner being close to a double-double player with some solid size and defense. Basically, I see him moving into the same class as players like Kurt Thomas and PJ Brown pretty soon. Problem is, I dont think the Rockets are the only ones that notice this, the Chronicle mentioned something like Skinner being out of the Rockets price range. Strange as it may sound, I would guess some team will hand him pretty much a full MLE salary.

Unbelievable...in one summer, we went from being a team that was barely watchable because of our dumbass players to one of the league's most carefully crafted teams built around smart, fundamentally sound players.

BTW, Coach K from Duke...the Lakers' next coach...

Coach K to LA is like dogs and cats living together, a sure sign of impending apocalypse... Tough day for Rocket legends Rudy and Calvin.

i don't think we'll get him unless we use our TE somehow. ESPN reported that seattle offered him a 3 year, 18 mil contract while another team has offered him a 3 year 20 mil contract. too rich for my blood
