    Hopefully his FT shooting improves.

It's been a long time since I've seen a talented scorer like KPJ struggle so badly at the line.

    Wembayama.

Adam Silver surely wouldn't let us miss the #1 pick when we have the worst record in the league 3 years in a row?

I agree with you on Sengun. Unpopular opinion on this board but is he the long term answer for this team? He isn’t a defensive presence at the 5 allowing a lot of paint scoring and dribble drives in a league that prioritizes scoring at the rim and big men that deter players from the paint and alter their shots such as Robert Williams or Gobert. Sengun’s physical limitations including a 7ft wingspan and slow feet on defense don’t help either. It’s up to him to improve on defense and as you said it will be a big year for him to show he that he is capable of these things and the long term solution at the 5.

So, if it doesn't equate to wins trade him too?

Good players are harder to fine that good coaches! If Wood was the problem WE don't know but I know Silas is NOT the Headcoach to lead this team.

The difference of course could be noticed when checking on/off splits. Despite Christian Wood putting up numbers, the offensive numbers were noticeably worse with him on the court than off the court the same was true when it came to the team's rebounding percentage, it was worse with Wood on the court than it was with him on the bench.

That points to a situation where Wood is personally talented, but he's not a team player.

Now, it's the exact opposite when you look at KPJ's numbers. He put up numbers AND the team was better for it. The team's offense and defense were better with KPJ on the court than when he was off the court. He was one of the only players who played significant minutes that can say that. Tate can't, Wood can't, Green can't, Sengun can't, Christopher can't.

Yes, that is a matter of concern. He has taken such tough shots at Auburn. It's undoubtedly going to be an inefficient shot in the NBA. Jabari needs exposure and experience.

My hope is that when surrounded with ball handlers and creators, he won't end up with the ball that often other than when he'd be in a position to take a good shot. That should eliminate a lot of those poor shots where he's just trying to make something happen.

The front office has done all it should do.

=> revamped a coaching staff to fit the needs of the team.

=> Moved veteran players that were not team oriented and kept others that were to help with leadership.

=> Added youth with skills, size and length in areas of need.

the next step is wait and see what we have.

We also didn't do a good job at SL of scheming or designing actions for him to get better looks. He will need to eliminate bad shots and we will need to get him good ones. I think he will develop a fine handle but it might take 2 years.

A VERY POOR OPINION ! So many still on the Roster still to be gotten rid of.
WE do not yet have a starting CENTER PLAYER. Till we do will not be working twards being a Contender !
The team Manager told me on this site that we would be getting a a new Center, but seems to be doing nothing about it.
    So far! Y

Sign 7'1 John Butler to a 2 way ASAP.

    Then develop him with Vipers.

Sengun is more than just a player, IMO. His shortcomings are covered by the arrival of Smith. This opens the offense and defense moving forward. Sengun is a big part of our future.

Yes I’m a little confused on their decision to stand pat. There have been reports of them looking to use their 2 way contract on a backup center with possibility of re signing Bruno. What happened to the Nic Claxton or Hartenstein signing? Those guys went for MLE or less. Perhaps they’re just waiting to evaluate Sengun this season before dipping into the FA market next year for guys like Myles Turner? Or maybe targeting Victor in next year’s draft? Teams have driven the ball into the paint at will on the Rockets the past 2 years without a defensive anchor in the middle. Long gone are the good ol days when Capela used to turn players away when they entered the paint.

Don’t forget about Garuba, once he hits healthy he compliments Sengun Nice as a back up-

Rox are definitely going to sign a scrap heap big man and it's going to drive a certain portion of the bbs insane.

Yup… we need to tank this last year while we got out pick. Play the eff out of the young guys. Focus on those defensive schemes… then we get wembi.

    Kpj
    Jgreen
    Teason
    Jabari
    Wendy

    The rockets future there.

Driving into the lane with impunity is not on Sengun it was on Wood, Tate, Green, KPJ and anybody else guarding the perimeter. People will see the defense improve dramatically now that Sengun has some actual help in Jabari and Tari.

You should wait to see if you are confused next offseason. Any roster decisions should be looked at with the nod that it may be for looking at young players here already and to lose. Next year the switch will be flipped and they will seemingly have every incentive to have a complete team.

Just going by what reports were saying dude. Their actions have run contrary to the media reports, which were specific in detailing the Rockets desire to sign a back up center with Bamba, Claxton, and Hartenstein’s name linked. Just curious What do you mean by “next year the switch will be flipped”? Why wouldn’t they shore up their 5 position this year? Unless you’re talking about their big cap room next summer?
