The Lakersground has a rumor that Fisher called the Rockets and indicated that he wanted to play here. Another source indicated the the love is mutual and the only issue right now is the length of the deal. Personally I prefer Barry. But Barry is 3 years older and Fish is a much better defender and takes care the ball better. Now let's close the deal and the PG position is set with Fish/Lue (33 min/15 min). Let's get Skinner/Thomas/Foyle as the backup center for Yao. And if we somehow can unload Mo and sign McDyess we are set as a contender in 2-3 years. Yao Mc TMac JJ Fish This is a sick lineup that has no problem in scoring. And if Mac is willing to play D as he indicated, this can be a better defensive team than the one we had last year. Finally Yao is gonna average 22/10 this season, and shoot for 25/12 next in 05-06 season when we will be a true contender.
If we were to get Fisher, I wouldn't give Fisher anymore than 3 years, which is the length of the rest of Tmac's current deal. I would say 3 years starting at 3.5M. That might be a little below market value but if he really wants to come here and be a STARTER, that's the price he has to pay as far as I am concerned. That gives us 1.5M left of the MLE to add another role player.
I wouldn't trust anything posted at Lakersground, with all the crap rumors they have about Yao traded for Shaq over there.
Plus, all they are doing is repeating whats already been known. That Fisher is interested in playing here. Thats why rumors from other BBSs is frowned upon.
I'd love to get Fisher...he's a pure point guard who can score as well. I don't understand the big deal about Brent Barry...he is a solid player but he is definitely not a point guard.
Question: wouldn't Fisher command more money than the Rockets could afford to pay him as they are over the cap? After all, he is a free agent and is available to the highest bidder and my understanding is that can't be the Rockets.
Although I have hated him in the Laker uniform... Fisher is a defensive minded player = + for JVG Fisher has Finals experience. Fisher has played with a big man.
