Nah, we need a legitimate bench backup 5...

    Bruno? I’m guessing that’s a spelling mistake.

    we don’t have one…Boban shouldn’t be in a team’s regular rotation

the rest are undersized or unqualified

i think garuba will be given the chance to back up the 4/5

we Got to see what we have. I hope he’s not a bust - I’m pessimistic about it.

Would love to trade the Mavs pile to Pistons with a 2nd for him.
He played really well for Silas

I'm willing to see what Holman has to offer as a backup 5 for us. He needs a camp invite to see if he can get the job. Heck, maybe Garuba stops hitting Dunkin Donuts and he shows what he can do.

I have incredibly low expectations for Garuba…I’m not high on him at all

I voted Eric Gordon because I'm told it's position-less basketball....

and he can shoot 3's for space-less basketball (or is it space-full?)

I think we’ll see a lot of Tate/Smith lineups in the 2nd rotation honestly. Eason if he’s not making rookie mistakes I could see also playing alongside Smith or Tate as well.

So really it’s Boban and Garuba sharing the load but if everyone’s healthy I doubt either of them
get that much PT and Silas goes small mostly instead of putting Boban or Garuba in.

Yeah. I feel like we lack that tallmanman. Boban is a great human being but he's not that good at basketball.
I'm very happy to see Daishen Nix got a couple votes.

    Holman for the vet minimum.

Send Garuba to the G to get some run (get in shape) and work on his offense with a target to bring back later in the year.

Eric Gordon is just way too big for backup 5.

Oh, I thought the poll question was the five men backing up the starters lol. Shouldn't be a multi option poll.

To answer the question I'd go KJ Martin.

We missed out on a backup 5, that could have a future with us in FA. So let's roll with what we have. We won't win many games anyways, so let's see, what Garuba can do when given 10-20 minutes per game, play Boban 5-10 minutes a game, and try out small ball lineups with Tate/Eason/Smith - shold be fine on defense and offense against most teams.

Next year is the time to add veterans. Right now we need to develope our guys and find out, who should be a part of our future and who shouldn't...

Unless Boban turned into a 3pt shooter, I think we should just kindly relocate him to a playoff team needing size/backups. I like the guy, but he’s a stylistic clash with how this roster wants to play and we aren’t good enough to fill out our roster with those “in case of emergency” guys to counter other team’s strengths.

I thought Holman looked okay in Summer League. Surprised he is listed at 6’9” - he looks bigger. Regardless he kind of checks the box for size and has at least a little range. Not very skilled but if he works hard he could be a solid backup big.

I like giving Garuba a shot as well but I haven’t seen much from him in the limited minutes he has been available and the fact he continues to look like an average Joe body gives me concerns for his work ethic. I get it’s hard, but that’s his job now - working out hard, sleeping right, and watching what you eat is the way pros do it. If you don’t, there is likely a whole slew of people with less talent who is going to have an advantage over you and at that point, no one cares how much size or potential you have if you aren’t willing to do what it takes to maximize it.

I guess I'm a bit puzzled at what exactly is the Rockets org in looking for at their backup 5.

If like a dating profile, what qualities that they, Rockets org, (not clutchfans) value most.

Is it a brute (strength) type of player.
    a) Bruno was let go. So even though CFans likes him (he was promising). The fact that Rockets didn't keep him, makes me think, they're looking for other qualities.

    Age:
    a) Is it a young cheap player who they could develop?
Garuba is that mold right now.

    b) someone who's young but already a few years... Age 22-24. Claxton re-signed, so no longer available, but a clue as a Rocket's ideal type. More of a switch center (than drop), length, height, athletic, skinny body type, than a bulky Fernando.

Holman is age 25, perhaps a stretch center? But seems like he'll be in the vipers for a while before getting called up.

Claxton is not a 3pt shooting center, but the fact that Rockets pursued, makes me think the stretch center is not a deal breaker for team makeup.

    C) A tall, but cheap backup vet C to just fill a spot. A McGee /Whiteside type of player.
