Associated Press BUENOS AIRES, Argentina -- Spurs guard Manuel Ginobili hopes to sign a long-term contract with San Antonio. "I would love to stay in San Antonio, that would be ideal," Ginobili said Tuesday. "The only thing that might woo me away is a considerably higher offer or a longer contract." The Spurs have suggested they will match any reasonable offer. Since Ginobili is currently under contract with San Antonio, the team has the option of offering him a deal up to seven years. Denver and Utah have also reportedly expressed interest in him. Ginobili said wants to complete any deal in the next few days so he can concentrate on training with Argentina's basketball team for the Athens Olympics. "My goal is to wrap this up as soon as possible. It's hard to think about the Olympics when everything else is pending," he said. Well duh, isn't that kind like saying I would never leave my wife unless a richer and slimmer one came along?
No...because for Manu, his "wife", the spurs, can offer him a fatter and longer contract. In your case, you're stuck with the wife you have...she ain't getting slimmer or richer.
Yes the Spurs can match, but Denver, Phx or the Jazz could make it very painfull (over 50 million). Manu is playing the game well and he could eat up more than half their cap sapce.
