Diaz is gone after this year. Cavan has options. He could be the Diaz replacement. He could be part of the solution at 1B next year (I hope not, as we should aim higher I think) or just our First guy off the bench. I think he’s likely better than Dubon. He’s back playing every day for Toronto though, so I guess they need him.
So that's 14 position players if my math is correct, so that is how many bench infielders we need. We're almost there. Apparently Yuli is a bench IF now (according to this thread), then we have Diaz and Dubon. Throw Biggio into the mix, and we are almost a third of the way there.
Cavan Biggio and Lourdis Gurriel would be great additions to this team. I still think Adding Josh Bell would be the key to a WS run
I've seen you say this a couple of times now, but I don't recall seeing this anywhere else. Where did you see/hear this?
Nowhere, he’s spouting BS. In fact pretty much the opposite is true; a few weeks ago MacTaggert came out with an article about how awesome Maldy was and how Houston does not think they need to add a catcher.
Like Odo, Lee had a very nice game against a very bad team. It's not a lot to hang his hat on but it's a start. And it is another reason to believe the Astros are fine with the catchers they have.
The only thing I've seen about the Astros wanting a catcher is from the baseball insiders podcast with Robert Murray. Never heard of it before I saw this yesterday... https://fansided.com/2022/07/07/astros-rumors-josh-bell-trade-deadline/
LMAO every where you look they say I love MALDY we need and equally defensive Back up but more pop in the bat. Things might have quitted down a little since the Korey Lee 3-4 game but they are not impressed at all with Castro. And he may not even get back on the Active roster once healthy. But there are many articles suggesting as much They will not go after Contraras but they could go after someone like Janson of the Blue Jays. IDK But there are articles suggesting as much on a C and a 1B Also note Trey Mancini isn't going any where scratch him off that list. I would Focus on Josh Bell and a 4th OF and Bench guy with a BP arm also on the list. I think they should throw Lee to the wolves and see what he has the rest of the year
This is the kind of trade we need to make. 23 year old 40 FV OF (84 wRC+ in AAA this season) and a 22 year old 40 FV pitcher (3.7 FIP in A+) turned into a $2.2M draft pick.
