We are NOT landing Vladimir Guerrero Jr., are y’all on drugs? Dude is primed to be a top 5 offensive player for the next decade. We are not getting him absent a preposterous overpay.
IIRC, the QO was only wiped out if they agreed on an international draft. Since they have not, the QO is still in effect.
OP wasn't being serious. Did you read the rest of his post? They were all pipe dreams, yet the OP knows they are all pipe dreams, unlike some of the other posters in this thread.

Sometimes it is a fantasy like my fantasy of getting Goldschmidt. He's a local kid who rakes where we could use help. Yuli is good enough that not just any 1B will help. Yuli played about 15 points above his career average last year and about that much under his career average this year. He hasn't necessarily lost it due to age. It could be normal swings.[OPS+] Yuli on the bench and as a late inning defensive replacement immediately improves the bench. I also think I remember his elsewhere in the infield, though it's been awhile.
I feel like this trade deadline is going to be similar too last years deadline and I don’t expect adding a marquee name. I see the need too add power left arms too the pen, and a super utility guy who can play over the IF/LF would be it. C Maldonado, Castro/Lee IF Gurriel, Altuve, Bregman, Pena, *Super UTIL, Diaz OF Tucker, Meyers, Brantley, Alvarez last spot: Dubon, McCormick, Siri, Matijevic, Lee, Leon Rotation: JV, Valdez, Javier, Garcia/McCullers Pen: Pressly, Stanek, Neris, Montero, *LH Power Arm, Garcia/McCullers, Odorizzi, Urquidy last spot: Maton, Solomon, *LH Power Arm, Taylor, Paredes, Bielak,
I don't see the Nationals trading Ruiz. He was a big part of the Scherzer/Turner return last year and they will want to hold on to him. If they do trade him they will AT LEAST want an all star level or future potential all star in the deal. They won't trade him for a bunch of average or worse players
now I sound like a broken record. But the Best Utility guy we have is currently starting at 1B. If we nab a 1B the deadline Yuli ca play all the INF positions if need be. I currently think adding his brother with his versatility would be a sweet addition. Name Position MTV ($Ms) Gurriel Jr. OF 14.5 Kloffenstein RHP 1 Pinto 2B 1.6 Total Value: 17.10 Blue Jays Name Position MTV ($Ms) McCormick OF 18.2 Odorizzi SP 2.6 Scrubb RHRP 1.4 Total Value: 17.00 This would be an interesting trade
Name Position MTV ($Ms) Campusano C 10.4 Merrill SS 8.7 Ruiz 2B 1.7 Snell SP 0.7 Total Value: 21.50 Padres Name Position MTV ($Ms) Leon SS 4.3 McCormick OF 18.2 Total Value: 22.50 The only reason I keep Bringing this trade up is the Astros have made it known they are looking for another Catcher and they like Snell
I see 3 possible directions. 1) trade from high minor league depth to get a bullpen arm that none of us were expecting. a la Bryan De la Cruz for Yimi Garcia. Maybe: kessinger and Julkes for AJ Puk? 2) trade a mid level prospect or 2 for a rental bat for the bench and injury insurance. Maybe: Peter Solomon and Jonathan Bermudez for Trey Mancini. 3) trade several good pieces for a TOR pitcher Maybe: Chas McCormick, Jose Urquidy, Seth Martinez, and Alex Santos for Luis Castillo.* I would add that the Reds would likely ask for Luis Garcia or Javier in this deal instead of Urquidy. I would be fine with Garcia but he actually has more trade value that Castillo ( according to baseballtradevalues.com) so would actually need to add prospects to the deal. Maybe Luis Garcia for Luis Castillo and Matheu Nelson. Nelson is their #10 prospect, a 50 grade catcher who is a couple of years away. According to values this trade still favors the Reds $52.4 to $42.4 which would account for the competition for Castillo.
Where do you get your values? I think it's a no Brainer that Scrubb has almost no, and maybe negative value right now. Baseballtradevalues.com has: Gurriel $14.5 Kloffenstein $1 Pinto $1.6 Total: $17.1 McCormick $18.2 Odorizzi. -$8.6 Scrubb $0 Total: $9.6
