In fairness you usually like other peoples’ comments like that…..but I respect you for standing up for Nix as it’s not easy to go against the prevailing sentiment of the board which is that he’s out of shape and sucks at free throws which indicates he hasn’t worked hard in the offseason. I did actually like how he passed the ball versus gunning it like everyone else not named Smith.
I’m not ready to give up on Nix, I was just very disappointed in a lot of what I saw from him last night. I had hoped for much more than what he showed. Hopefully he gets better fast.
Summer league favors players that can handle the ball, so one would have expected him to perform similarly to g-league. The competition honestly isn't that far off.
I guess if he were able to reliably hit the two easiest shots in basketball then yes it would be a different conversation.
I mean by that logic, if Smith hit 2 more shots this game, he would have looked just as good as Paolo. Nix had a full year of development. It is ultimately summer league so it doesn't mean much, but for an undrafted guy who is lower down in totem on the team, you would expect more.
Just don’t get how a point guard can’t make at least 65% free throws. They’ll be doing a “Hack a Nix” pretty soon…..
An example of someone never being lean is Kenneth Lofton jr. (big fan of him) but he actually knows how to use his body and weight to his advantage. As for Kyle Lowry…. He was really lean at a point. He also elevated his game and became a multiple time all star along with the transformation. He’s not that lean anymore but he’s 36 now and at the tail end of his career. Nix is 20 years old. There’s NO excuse for him to not drop the extra 15-20 useless pounds he’s clearly carrying around.
Our FO seems to have a fetish for PG's that can't make FT's lol... As for Nix, he looked a step slow. One of his cross court passes was so slow that 90% of us viewers knew would get picked 5 seconds before it happened. He did surprise me with that putback though. After all the talk about working out, and being viewed as another lottery talent, he was a bit underwhelming.
The herd seems to have spoken and you have the folks who seem to always get upset if anyone is suspected of having more than 5% body fat always ragged on Harden during his three year period of being MVP or second in the vote. For those who watched the game closely. Nix could easily have had another several assists if the folks he made good passes too had not blown layups or easy buckets. His defense was overall pretty good and it was amazing to see him be the only Rocket Blanchero had a hard time driving on.
Nix needs to play better. I’m pulling for him. Yes it’s just one game, but last game was kinda rough and TyTy is coming for his spot. He needs to get the ball in the hands of the shooters and direct the offense. None of this.
