Just my opinion, but this season was the best season of the entire show... ...until the last episode. Honestly, it was super boring and did nothing to advance any of the characters from the beginning of the season. Spoiler At the beginning of the season, the group was trying to kill Homelander and MM had his own vendetta against Soldier Boy. At the end of the season, the group...hasn't killed Homelander and Soldier Boy essentially won't be part of the story anymore. What's next? Is season 4 just going to be another rehash of season 3 where the protagonists try to kill Homelander? Positives: + Kimiko got great character development. Had powers, lost powers, then found what it means to be given a choice...and then chose to have powers. + Homelander straight up murdered a guy in front of a BIG crowd and everyone cheered. That's probably going to be the main plot for season 4. Negatives: - Homelander was great for 7 episodes...but then became regular unhinged Homelander (from the start of the season) instead of the batshit crazy Homelander we saw for 7 episodes. - Soldier Boy put back on ice for the foreseeable future. Shame, because aside from Homelander, he was the best part of the show. It's unlikely they'll do anything with his character next season, based on a gut feeling. - Black Noir dying for such an arbitrary reason. - Edgar being replaced. That one woman being the new VP pick. Like, are we supposed to care? Questions: 1. The Deep being just comic relief is starting to get kinda old. We get it - he likes to sex aquatic animals and he's dumber than a bag of rocks. What's next for his character? 2. A-Train will probably have some sort of character redemption arc next season...but does anyone really care?
I agree with all of it Then ending was so . . .. meh Spoiler . Death of Noir had almost no weight to it. I suspect A-Train gets a redemption arc just in time to die Maeve and Soldier boy survive basically made the home moment completely weak sauce Esp with Maeve getting a happily ever after You just know that Butcher gonna get some Perm V Rocket River
And likely won’t face charges. They’ll start season 4 with it was Stand Your Ground or some such BS. Again the political commentary is so good. If AOC or Pelosi was murdered in front of a far right rally they’d cheer too. That’s how Fcked up this country is right now.
Spoiler I'm guessing this wasn't Maeve's ride off into the sunset. I assume she'll get pulled back in somehow but we'll see.
Spoiler they kept Noirs mask. Maybe we see the comic version of the character join the 7 in the next season.
I haven't read the comics and am not sure I want to. But I did read an article late last night about one character and what to expect next season . . . Spoiler https://ew.com/tv/black-noir-nathan-mitchell-recast-the-boys-season-4/
Spoiler: Comic Spoiler I haven't read the comic but this is from Wiki..... Black Noir is a long-time member of the Seven, almost always shown in silhouette with his face obscured. His powers include super strength and supposed skills as a pilot. He is stronger than even the Homelander; Mother's Milk states he can "[...] bench a dozen Mack trucks". While initially an enigma, it is revealed at the climax of the series that Black Noir is actually a clone of the Homelander, developed by Vought-American as a contingency, in case the leader of the Seven became a liability.[15] Black Noir was ordered by VA to be close to the Homelander at all times and to assassinate him if the company deemed it necessary. This mission (which entails being in close proximity to his "enemy" for decades, yet forbidden to fulfill his designated goal) drives Black Noir completely insane, leading him to develop a sadistic streak just as disturbing as — if not more so than — the other members of the Seven. His apparent madness even impairs his locution and facial mobility, forcing him to babble and often repeat himself while constantly smiling from ear to ear. During the confrontation between Billy Butcher and the Homelander in the Oval Office, Black Noir appears and reveals his face and origin to the stunned Butcher and Homelander. Black Noir explains that it was he who engaged in the atrocities portrayed in the photos sent to the Boys (as well as the rape and murder of Butcher's wife), framing the Homelander as a means of forcing VA into giving him a kill order, and subsequently setting up the Boys and the Seven against each other. Black Noir kills the Homelander in single combat, though he suffers severe injuries during the fight. As he exits the White House, the military opens fire on him, shredding his body to the point where he can no longer stand or move. These injuries weaken Black Noir enough that Butcher can crack open his skull with a crowbar and tear out a large chunk of his brain, finally killing him and avenging his wife.
Spoiler I still find it a bit weird that Butcher and Maeve didn’t allow Soldier Boy to kill Homelander. Butcher was in position to protect Ryan and both he and Maeve know that Homelander will continue to be a threat to them and many others.
Plot reasons. Or I guess, no-plot reasons since the ending did nothing to progress the main conflict.
iono brehs... finishing season 3 left me a little dissatisfied. maybe cus the homelander arc didn't really move much... and the father-son thing felt like a cop out. we need deaths to the main characters too for a bigger punch. would like to have a power struggle between captain soulja boi and right c*** butcher leading the boys in s4 and have homelander v soulja boi back and forth. i think ashley should also get somma dat v and be a crazier homelander. her supe name can be bald eagle.
