    I strongly dislike Snow's contract.

We can do better than handcuffing ourselves for the nest 5 years with Eric's contract.

I still lik Barry or at worst fisher on a shorter and cheap term. This can be done easily.

The hard part of landing T-Mac is done - getting those other pieces will be funa nd CD and JVG will come up complimentary parts that will fit.

I don’t picture Yao as a Shaq type of player that the point guard just throws the ball in the low post and parks himself behind the 3-point line. Yao and Shaq are two different players with different games.

Yao’s game is more versatile. I want a more versatile guard that can enhance all of Yao’s strength’s. I want a guard that can effectively run the pick-and-roll or pick-and-fade with Yao. Someone that can create easy baskets for Yao or can penetrate and get Yao some open 15 footers.

Barry's asking for a four year deal that would effectively pay him the same money per year that Snow will be paid.

Fisher is looking for a decent payday as well. I really think we'd be best off trading a salary for Snow, so that we can use the MLE and TE at the 4 and the backup 5.

I'm not real excited about our point guard choices either. Is Lue good enough defensively?

He's small and quick and very pesky. I remember him best for absolutely frustrating Iverson in the NBA Finals with his defense- he really gets in people's faces.

then what position did you see him playing after they traded Payton for Ray Allen? Because I seem to recall him running the point from that time on?

I think Snow is just what the doctor ordered.

Set up McYao and play tough D.

We'll now have McYao splitting shots two-ways rather than the shots that used to be divided three-ways by Steve/Cat/Yao.

Let it Snow. Let it Snow. Let it Snow.

And all 4 of the other guards Seattle used were capable of guarding point guards (Allen, Murray, Daniels, Ridnour). Do we have that situation here?

We have a 6'8 guy with a problematic back (McGrady), a second-year bust (Gaines), a geriatric with shooting touch (Piatkowski, who come to think of it is a poor man's Barry), and Lue as our other guards. That's a whopping one guy who we want chasing point guards around for 82 games.

I'm in favor of signing Barry if we

    1. Get a real point guard
    2. Get a backup center
    3. Play Barry as a backup or a starting shooting guard, moving McGrady to the 3 (which I don't love either, but I suppose it would work).

I asked the question awhile ago in another thread: name me one starting point that Barry can guard off the top of your head. Why does everyone insist on destroying a potential top defense by starting Brent Barry at point?

Fisher would be the best fit because he will be asked to carry a large prtion of the scoring load. Just don't turnover the ball, make the easy pass and hit the open shot when you get it.;)

Drexlerfan, we have 2 oustanding starting players on the wings, Tmac and JJ, and if the opponents PG is killing you on speed we have Lue. There is lots of oppertunity to shift Barry to the weakest offensive guard out there.

I don't think Barry is near as important to the defense as another defensive presence in the 4/5.

By the way Snow's contract is about the same as a 4 year MLE, I would hope are not talking about a 4 year deal with Barry, 3 at the max.

To take on Snow's contract Phily has to do us another favor, giving them our trade exemption for him is doing Phily big favor. Spoon for Snow (no TE involved), or Spoon and TE for McKie and Snow (if the are so keen on reducing salary) is much more in the ballpark for being equitable.

in the thread above, jvg in his interview said we need to surrond yao and tmac with shooters. So i dont think we will have snow on our team.
