The OP and other Silas haters need to take a look at some shot charts and understand the potential of this offense .... The entire team took 24 contested 3's For The Season - Compare that to the 1,442 3 point shots taken (out of 3170 or 45.5%) as a team with No Defender Within 6 Feet. Getting 45.5% of your total 3 point shots taken over the course of a season "Wide Open" is pretty damn good, Now consider he got that out of a team consisting of 5 rookies & 3 second year players and only 4 players having 5 or more years in the league - one of which sat for the season. For comparisons sake, the best 3 point shooting team by percentage last year was Miami who got only 37.7% of their 3 point shots "wide open". Anyone still wondering why KPJ had the highest catch and shoot 3 point percentage in the NBA or why CWood was able to shoot 40%from 3 or why Jalen Green was able to turn his season around from that dismal start?? If they'd have been better than 21st in 3 point shooting ..... they'd have won a few more games
Don’t have to fear him. The problem is do they respect him? You not suppose to fear the coach. It’s the gm you suppose to fear becaue he control your destinies with the team. But you have to respect the coach. If players dont respect the coach, then they are not goin to but into what he’s instilling and that’s the issue.
Dude picked two dudes, one who is injured, to discuss Silas. He is reaching, along with most of the other Silas hate on this board. These cats are trippy to me. Let's go back to McHale or Dantoni...
It would just for once be nice to see both Garuba and Nix be given their walking papers as a message to the rest of the players that this is serious business and lack of effort and preparation won’t be tolerated with the new look Rockets. Right now we are known as the team that puts up with players throwing things at coaches and driving out of stadium complexes during actual NBA games with no real consequences (two days later both players welcomed back to 30+ minutes in the starting lineup). Much rather have Bruno who at least cares and works at his craft and pretty much any other point guard in the league than Nix who should be shooting 1000 free throws a day and losing weight so that he can keep up with much speedier point guards on defense.
Do you think Silas picks the assistants or controls who is ACTUALLY running the SL? So players aren't responsible for their own actions? Be it mistakes or glory?
Coach Steve should whip his dick out in practice, give all the players something to think twice about
It is Silas' system, but mostly it's Higgins since he's the SummerLeague coach. Last night is on Higgins. Weaver (last summer) and Abdul (g-league champion) also runs Silas' system to better results. People care less about a loss in summer league, but it's the lack of set plays and the hero-ball that annoyed Rocket fans. He needs to be running stuff for Jabari. Not let Nix or Christopher do their 'read or react' game. It's one game so, I hope Rick can turn it around for the OKC game. If I was Silas, I'd help him (even if broad strokes). You give your assistant autonomy but give him life jacket, if he's sinking.
I didn't actually see @Imanimal blame Silas for the play on the court. I did see him complain about Nix and Garuba come in out of shape. That is definitely something Silas should address. We all know Silas isn't coaching the Summer League team.
based on last 2 seasons when our cornerstone talented young players were ignored by silas, scrubs and the vets

this thread is acting like it’s Silas fault that Garuba and Nix are fat because they don’t “fear him” which is stupid and complete BS How about Garuba be held accountable for his own actions? Does he care about his career or not? Then he’ll probably have the nerve to complain about PT
This is true, and it was my initial thought reading the OP, but if you listened to the Silas interview during the game yesterday he specifically mentioned how he liked that everyone stayed in town this summer, the whole team " I liked that we could keep an eye on them, and that they stayed in town this summer..." mentioned something to the effect of him keeping them out of trouble. So that implies a HC with a team this young needs to be in touch w his guys and watching them in the off season. Stone also alluded to this in the exit press conference. They literally talk to the guys about their goals, and give them a game plan to achieve them, this was part of the exit interview process. So it seems like the messaging is too soft and he hasnt done a good job of whatever he claims hes done in the off season.
Garuba meanwhile eating his 5th buffalo chicken burger… *smack smack smack “it’s Silas fault I’m fat”…lick fingers…burp…smack smack* How about he hit the treadmill and take his career seriously?
the messaging was just fine for everyone else tho Was it McHale’s fault when Harden showed up out of shape in 2015? Was it Brett Brown’s fault when Embiid used to show up out of shape? Was it Phil Jackson’s fault when Shaq showed up out of shape? Garuba needs to look in the mirror
I agree it is on those players, it should be obvious if you are a fringe player or not that you will need to come in and compete at a high level to have a shot. My post was mainly for those saying Silas has no role at all in the Summer, when he implied he does on TV last night. You are right that we can not really judge him based on that, and we have no insight into what the messaging has been like, and definitely cant tell from the 60 seconds he touched on it in the broadcast. I think some are just assuming whatever he did during the season to have people not be disciplined, he is carrying into whatever hes doing in the off season as well. He bragged about getting to coach Lebron, Steph and Luka as Rookies, but that seems like an easier job than trying to coach someone like Nix and Garuba. If you have all world talent, they do the heavy lifting of developing themselves. I am not sure I saw anything from anyone else that seems like they improved, small sample size though.
