I'm sorry, but Garuba even after a year to recover and get in shape looks ridiculously out of shape. This was his biggest issue last season - his conditioning was horrible. He looked tired on the court, had a belly, and had no lateral movement. The tape from pre-draft shows a guy who is in amazing shape, athletic, and skilled. I don't know what it is, but it's like he's given up on trying to maintain good conditioning.
We need to cut this larda$& off the team. Shows once again the lack of discipline from Silas….he is ridiculously out of shape!!!
Playing basketball all my life you can play good basketball in this type of shape if you can play yourself into shape when you are really young if you can avoid injury. When you get in your late 20’s though that all changes. When I was in the best basketball shape of my life though I was never cut up. I looked more like a lanky surfer/skater and it was impossible for me to put on weight from eating cause I was playing so much. So with Garuba, I wouldn’t worry just yet and just see if he’s one of these guys that can get in shape in season. It’s not sustainable over time when he gets older but he’s young enough where I wouldn’t be shocked if he can play himself into shape at this stage. But again… not sustainable young fella. Gotta stay away from the late night drive throughs and sugary drinks.
His contract gives him **** you money from what he grew up from. He could be ready to peace out on the game and go relax in Spain or Nigeria. To be fair, there was only one player that stands out after Sengun was picked from the 2021 crop: JGup.

When we first drafted Garuba and Josh Christopher, I thought Garuba had great potential to be a rotational player while not being super sure about Christopher. Now I can see that Jaygup’s attitude is something special and I am a little disappointed at Garuba’s conditioning.
Yikes. Super disappointing If true. Injuries were a red flag too. So much wasted defensive talent. Pull yourself together Uz!
Garuba is too young to look like that already. Physically, he can probably bounce back from it pretty quickly at that age, but the fact that he let himself get that way at all has me questioning his priorities. I just don’t see it from this guy. He seems more like a fringe prospect than a first rounder, but you have to remember how many first rounders flame out.
What’s concerning is that we have already annointed him as our backup center. Would rather have a guy who cares and takes care of his body….Bruno!!!
