He showed this in college when given opportunities as well, definitely showed it in international play. The question is if he can do it in high volume. He needs to tighten up his handle in traffic too.
Who knows, maybe Jabari can be a good rim protector. He had Kessler in Auburn so his job was to play great perimeter D and funnel people to Kessler. He did avg 1 block per game even with playing along Kessler. I didn't mean Jabari can't be good at rim protection, only that Chet has more potential at being a better rim protector than Jabari. Jabari got the length and frame to be a good rim protector too. Jabari is just as much an unicorn as Chet IMO.
Chet shot well, handled, finished, protected the rim and found open teammates. What in the hell did this guy expect to see him do? Fly? Chet showed skills and this dude is a freaking numbskull.
an assistant coaching meaning he wasn't a star himself that doesn't exactly know what a star is "anonymous" there's a reason for that lol
I know the Rookie showcases are designed to make guys like Chet look good but it also makes the Gonzaga coach look like a moron
Yep. But you gotta start somewhere ...and it's a good start. Green demonstrated his SL showcase was not a fluke ...just was a little delayed. However, had he got dominated by Utah's bigs, the "I told ya so" birds would have been chirping loudly. So just give credit where it's due. We all understand the final judgement will be on the day he retires. For example, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durrant still have several more chapters of their book to write. Also interested to see the final chapters of Harden's book.
Gonzaga had people thirsting after Timmie instead of Chet during March Madness, lol College basketball is so weird.
nobody can talk this much sh*t and not be good. I remember Jalen Green talking so much hot sh*t, it gave me confidence that he would be good before I knew he could play. You talk sh*t you have to back it up; it means your confident in your abilities.
This. Chet should have been the focus of that offense, that's an indictment of Few. If he can tighten his handles up when guarded, he can be a great offensive player, not just a complementary piece.
not exactly. This is why college basketball is just massively different. And why a lot of folks are so wrong who don't even watch it. Especially when the make up is with a bunch of players that won't be in the league. You have to be able to take everything into context. Not giving Chet the ball all the time isn't about having a bad coach. It's how the team needs to play based on their personnel. What can Timme do and do it well at the college level. Score. What else can he do besides that at a high level. Pretty much nothing. So what does that do for Timme when you just give Chet the ball all day long. Chet on the other hand is a two way player. So in actuality thats how you're supposed to balance that frontcourt to get the most out of it. The college level doesn't showcase every single thing an elite prospect can do. They often can only showcase bits and pieces because at the expense of their talent, they must play within the limitations of what team they're on can and cannot do.
Call me a hater , but I’m still not sold on his ability . #1 , summer league doesn’t mean anything #2 , he’s just not fast enough. Against motivated nba defenders he’s not going to be able to do much . He made some 3’s last night , but I think he’ll get bothered as intensity goes up . I’m not taking about his ability to stay healthy .. and I question that too . On that one fast break where someone got in front of him he tripped and fell . he needs 2-3 years just building up his body and speed . frankly , all the young players do to get to top level .. Chet needs it to get to rotation level . what are y’all thinking his over under for mpg and games played this year is ? im guessing he’s under 25 and 60
