After the first 40 games of last season everyone thought the Cavs were the next big thing, Mobley was a generational talent, Garland is a max player, Twin tower lineups were back, etc. I know they got hit with injuries to Allen, but maybe tap them brakes in January take havers.
Forty Million dollars per year to Garland? In a league where the soft cap sits at $120 Million, and the Luxury Tax comes in at $150? That's money Jalen Green should get in RFA, not a Garland-tier player.
Lillard is an attention w**** dude acts like he’s KD or something and the rest of the league is waiting with bated breath to see if he’ll finally want out as he plays these games on social media
I mean, the alternative is to NOT offer this contract to Garland, piss him off (a la Ayton and the Suns) and then ultimately have your 22 year old all-star go to another team. Meanwhile, you're hoping Rubio and Sexton both come back from their injuries at 100%, so that you're not completely thin at the guard position? Dude has shown steady improvement every year and has definitely earned it. Zion, on the other hand, not so much.
Is it the Nets attempting to negotiate a buyout with Westbrook? Or discussing his role? Lakers in discussions with Kyrie? Is that even legal?
Market for Kyrie is bone dry. Who wants a 30 year old, injury prone, franchise destroying, anti vaxx, flat earther on a one year deal who will want a max. Lakers only one to roll those dice.
What choice do they have? Cheaper than Russ, and everyone already knows that didn't work. A steal for them if it works out. But will they get anywhere with Kyrie? Probably not...
Lakers year long media attention whoring is already annoying as it is. Not looking forward to the new bullshit with Kyrie going there.
Yeah. I agree. Kyrie is a franchise killer but this Lakers team is already dead in the water. He will fit much better if he ever decides to show up, and if he doesn't decide to show up then he costs 10 million less than Westbrook and, honestly, probably hurts them less by not playing than Westbrook did by playing. Now, if they trade AD for Durant and Kyrie decides he needs to show up all year to increase his chances that somebody out there will be dumb enough to give him another maxxed contract, then things could get very interesting for the Lakers in the short term. But with Lebron and Durant being as old as they are, they'd have maybe 2 years to win a ring or two.
