this is a freaking haul. Considering what Atlanta gave up for Murray and what Minny gave up for Gobert it’s time to stop exaggerating how great of a trade the Harden deal was. It was adequate at best. From what I can tell, Stone isn’t much of a deal maker….despite the fact that he’s “been making deals since 18”.
I doubt it even Jrue Holiday who is a very nice player, but not a star, required 2 unprotected picks and 2 pick swaps the price is high for anyone borderline All-Star or better unless you’re toxic like Kyrie, and I don’t see that stopping any time soon
Not all first round picks are created equal. The Rockets getting a ton of lottery picks for trading a cancer to Brooklyn that destroyed their team is significantly better than players trading useful players to what will be perennial playoff teams for back of the first round picks.
To be fair, the discussion — and it’s just that — is around giving a pick back to Brooklyn, not all of them. And a guy like Bridges can easily be the centerpiece for a future star trade if we go that route.
That's a terrible trade for Minnesota. Given all the posts about fit and such on here, I bet the Minnesota boards are lit up. Rudy in Minnesota makes no sense to me.
Is it just me or i'm happy were standing still in this crazy offseason with our rebuilding phase? Crazy Gobert gets a 2022 1st rd pick in kesler, vando, beverley and 4 1st rd picks?? Plus beasley who is okay i guess. That's just insane I just want to get to summer league and see the padawans!
it was giving them back their 2024 pick and dropping the 2025 swap Bridges can be the centerpiece if he comes with 5+ picks attached
You have to remember that, just like with max salaries, there is a limit to what teams can offer. Not every max player making the same money are equal. This is no different. Four picks is the absolute most a team can offer. If you don’t have four picks to offer, you can offset with pick swaps. GMs hands are also tied when a player requests a specific team. Utah was proactive, so they get to sell to the highest bidder. Stone had to extract everything he could from one specific team. Without knowing for sure, I would bet he got every available FRP they had.
What y'all think of this RealGM "Successful Trade Scenario?" Congratulations on a successful trade Due to New Orleans being under the cap and choosing to invoke the Cap Room rule, New Orleans could not go over the cap by more than $100,000 of post-trade Team Salary, which did happen here. Due to Houston being over the cap and having a post-trade Team Salary under the Tax Threshold and trading out more than $19.6M in salaries, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Houston could not receive more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Put whatever protections you want on it. The fact of the matter is it helps Miami by giving them a bargain contract for 2 years versus Omer’s expiring deal and they get back a 2nd. With Miami so tight against the cap they need contracts like KJ’s that are actually playable. Yurtseven is glued to their bench like Hartenstein was here and is behind Bam and Dedmon.
You'd probably have to throw in #17, Bucks pick and 1 Nets pick for the Pelicans to even pick up the phone.
“Cancer” weird choice of word. Funny I was always told in sports when you remove a “cancer” from a team the team excels and does better. I must have missed that the past 3 years in houston
