Overpaying for Lin, circling back to Covington the ryan Anderson experience,
Overpaying Lin, Capela for Covington, and the Ryan Anderson experience come to mind.

Also the immediately regrettable Scola extension that we burned the stretch provision on iirc

What exactly was the tunnel vision with regards to Lin?

Don't really think Capela/Covington were tunnel vision more so they were forced moves to accommodate the terrible Westbrook acquisition that was forced on him, that Morey wanted no part of in the first place.

Think you're just a tad bit harsh on Morey because you couldn't back up what you said.

Morey signed Lin before Linsanity after he was waived by the Warriors, and he was the last training-camp cut as I recall. Rockets originally signed Covington as a UDFA before he established himself in the league.

The past is a foreign country and what not, but my impression in both these cases Morey was in part reverting to past targets, and the result was transactions that were not ideal. Of course, there are multiple motives in any deal. We had to trade Capela because of the Westbrook stupidity (which I put on Tillman/Harden completely, as it was way out of character for Morey), but that doesn't dictate the return, which was underwhelming imho. You are free to disagree of course.

Morey had a lot of things going for him. For instance, a lot of the guys he targeted were good and cheap (early Chuck Hayes, Landry, Parsons, P-Bev). But I do think he has a weakness in this regard.
