my understanding is that they already have a new contract worked out; very similar to the Tate situation (although we even had an extra year of restricted free agency with Tate). Dort has value around the league and OKC clearly likes him, but he was tossed around in trade talks leading up to the draft so I bet they are giving him a big rise this year as part of a team-friendly contract that is seen as a net positive asset by other teams. Hopefully exactly what we are doing with Tate. I’ll be interested to compare what Dort and Tate get on their new deals. They are both good role players so I’m eager to see what that market is, especially for a rebuilding team. I hope it’s not double figures.
I would have preferred going in on Dejounte but Sexton would be an interesting piece I guess. Not sure how he fits with KPJ/Nix/TyTy, but just keep accumulating talent and let the cards fall where they may.
Nothing like a 6'1 SG coming off a knee injury that has only once been healthy enough to play over 65 games in a season.
Sexton? Ehhhhhhhhh...on one side he was pretty efficient the two years before last. On the other side his defense sucks and we have Porter AND I don't want to be the team that gives him an extension. I'd do a three team trade: Houston receives: Derrick Rose Taj Gibson Cleveland receives: Eric Gordon Knicks receives: Collin Sexton If the Knicks don't get Brunson. We get added depth up front with Gibson (3rd stringer at this point in his career) and a good vet/role player in Rose at the PG position. Plus both player are expiring contracts.
Only want buy-out players with draft picks attached or 1 for 1 trade where we get a relatively young guy with upside. Might as well keep Gordon than trading for two veterans even if you buy one of them out (Gibson?). Don’t want Sexton.
I'm not opposed to keeping Gordon though getting two vets that can contribute and add depth to positions we need isn't the end of the world. I no longer have hope/faith that Stone can turn Gordon into a 1st.
What kind of money and role is Sexton asking for? If he is okay with a 6th man role, I am happy with that. He can score, his motor is good, he gives good energy. If it is a starting role, then that's a horrible idea. He is one of the most tunnel visioned players I have ever seen and he is a liability in defense.
if this happens (hopefully) it signifies we're moving KPJr to the 3. (sexton, a free agent C, Tate would be a good package for Russ/picks later. should be more attractive to the Lakers than Russ and picks for Kyrie/big.)
