I don't think that is quite right. There was security to hear his speech at the Ellipse. Trump was angry that the numbers at his speech were down because people did not want to go through security and lose their weapons, so he asked that the "mags" be removed. I don't think security actually removed them.

Trump also said something to the effect of "I'm not worried, the crowd isn't here to hurt me." Which insinuates he knew the crowd was there to hurt someone.

 

It was shocking testimony but the least consequential as far as the events of the day criminality. It was also the most removed from the actual incident the witness was.

Cassidy was asked by another person of she had heard what happened in the beast. She said know then relayed what she was told.

It doesn't hurt her credibility in the slightest since she never claimed the incident even happened. She only testified she was told about it.

So her credibility is on no way damaged. Also, it doesn't really affect the criminality of Trump's conduct.

There is a reason why they are trying to change the focus and are not commenting on Trump knowing there were armed people and the crowd and that he said they could go to the capitol before his speech and then told the people at the speech to go there knowing they were armed.

It is absolutely the best and only defense they can come up with even though we don't know the source, neither the driver nor secret service have testified about the incident, but that's still the best response to the testimony today... Or previous days.
1. Nothing about Trump knowing their armed rioters there and wanting and encouraging them to go to the capitol.

2. Nothing about Trump knowing that he legitimately lost the election.

3. Nothing Trump knowing it was illegal to push forward the 'alternate' electors.

4. Nothing about Trump saying to the DOJ to just say the election was in question and let him and Republican congressmen take care of the rest even while knowing the election wasn't in question.

5. Nothing about Trump and his team planning the insurrection before the 6th and having been notified of the plans for violence ahead of time.

5. Nothing about all of the evidence coming from Trump appointees and his inner circle.

So they are left to try and make a big deal out of a car ride, based on anonymous source from secret service about people who haven't yet been under oath.

even now there’s still questions of what secret service did and didn’t do. It’s also an ongoing theme with him of those closest to him just ignoring his orders basically to protect him from himself so I think we need his detail under oath for sure.

 

Another thing the Trump supporters aren't talking about were the request for pardons from Meadows and Giuliani which was testified to today. So they have knowledge of their own vulnerability to criminal charges.
