Pelosi outlines possible legislative response to Roe reversal https://thehill.com/homenews/house/...ossible-legislative-response-to-roe-reversal/ excerpt: Pelosi cited three specific proposals that House Democrats are considering. One would codify the 1973 Roe decision into law. Another would make clear that women are free to travel across the country for any reason — an effort to preempt any attempts by states to prohibit cross-state travel in pursuit of legal abortion services. And a third would protect reproductive health data, such as that stored on apps, from being collected and distributed to third parties. The latter proposal, sponsored by Rep. Sara Jacobs (D-Calif.), is designed to prevent that data from being "used against women by a sinister prosecutor in a state that criminalizes abortion," Pelosi wrote. "[It] protects your reproductive and sexual health data from apps, from website searches, so that it can't be used against you. It can't be sold or shared," Jacobs said on Friday in front of the Supreme Court. more at the link
Is it possible for states to prevent cross state travel? I guess you could do it for epidemics. This just seems like a throwback to how the 14th amendment came to be... :lolsob:
Why would you even want to do that to America that's just as bad as putting mcconnell as the president it's time for them to get the hell out of office WE NEED TERM LIMITS FOR THE HOUSE AND SENATE.
All of that it's time to fix the Government so it will be by the people for the people the way is was supposed to be.
Agreed, everyone who stumps for the office always says that and no one ever gets it done, I am not sure it can be done until you start with the lobbyists and special interest groups......they all help get the guy in office and then they cant turn there back on them, wash - rinse - repeat
For the Supreme Court, term limits would be great. For congress, it actually won't mean much anymore. There's been tons of turnover in both houses over the last decade. There are a few dinosaurs in both houses that stick around but its not as big a problem as you think. Also, as long as districts are gerrymandered, term limits don't really change much. In an era of polarization, the old geezer that gets term limited out gets replaced with a more radical gen x politician with fewer guardrails. I think the bigger problem is just the basic fact that you need two houses of Congress to pass anything and one of those houses (the Senate) has some absurd rules that empower the minority party to block almost everything. Those are your real problems rather than the lack of term limits.
I am not dreaming it, I am PRAYING FOR IT ! Thoughts and Prayers that God Smite's Donald Trump and Mitch McConnel. DD
