Rockets became 100% more switchable in a single draft. But Rockets still need a defensive specialist on coaching staff to maximize Bari N Tari.
I agree but I think said coach needs to be geared toward molding these guys into understanding NBA D then some coach who is more likely to succeed when he can plug in a bunch of NBA vets to his system.
It’s kinda absurd there was no system last year. I get it, we were going to be bad but damn, start somewhere with strong fundamentals.
uh oh, Silas about to go deep in his bag this season y’all ain’t ready I want the apologies to be as loud as the disrespect was @DreamShook
Eventually one starts to wonder if Silas keeping things 'basic' is an excuse for mediocre coaching. These guys are young but most have been hooping since they could walk. I'm sure they understand the X's and O's.
Basic. Yeah right Coach Steve. You saw the great Christian Wood struggle to identify his man or protect the rim, clearly it was such a complicated system that even AD-lite couldn't handle it.
Did you see the D Green was playing at the start of last year? It was like he had never played a lick of D in his life.
It will take time, but we do have some guys that come into the league with defense on their resume so that is a good starting point. Jalen, Alpi, KPJ will have to buy in, if it will be really successful. Getting a good defensive asst coach will also be a good thing for these young guys. Hope they can bring one in soon to get his system in place.
By the end of the season, I think Jalen improved a heap. I thought he was one of the better players for understanding where he should be and what the team should have been doing. He also improved on ball. KPJ was already one of our better on ball defenders. Alpi should be better with the experience of NBA speed. I don't think we have any unwilling defenders now that Wood is gone.
KPJ will be the best defender on the team this year Really want Gordon to start. KPJ/Gordon/Jabari could be nice this year on defense
Front offices tank, not players. If the Rockets start winning a lot of games with a team full of rookies/sophomores, I think they would be ecstatic. That would be way ahead of schedule. We just didn't want to win with a bunch of pretty good vets playing all the minutes.
