I just watched Jabari Smith's post-draft talk to ESPN.
He is clearly stating that his goal is to win games and no matter what it takes to do that. He adds that making it to the playoffs would be his rookie goal (above Rookie of the Year).
I personally don't see it too of a far fetched goal. I will not be shocked if Rockets make it to the playoffs.

Sengun is going to have his pick of gunners to feed.

I will add that Eason will be a big part of the defensive improvement by the end of the year.

Hopefully Sengun's working on his 3 pt shot as we speak.

That was why I was team Jabari from the moment we knew we had 3rd pick.

I'm hoping Tate/Gordon etc... are traded for a 15-20 min a game shot blocking big that spends time on the floor with Smith/Eason.
    .
A vet backup PG that's good defensively to show the young guys the ropes wouldn't hurt a thing either.

Sure hope Sengun worked on his defensive movement and awareness... Otherwise this new found roster exciteness is pointless.. He's the key to a thriving Rockets offensive outlook... If he's in constant foul trouble, get ready for isoball 3.0

For anyone sad about not drafting Banchero.

    Rockets still have this guy.

I think we have a big three - Green, Sengun, Jabari. Maybe big four with KPJ if he keeps his head on straight. Excited about Tari and Garuba on defense. I am really looking forward to watching as many Rockets games as possible next season. Can't wait.

I still to this day don't understand this.

Sengun's awareness on defense is at worst adequate.

People really need to look a lot more on the defensive side of things and focus less on the opposing player with the ball, and just count how many times Sengun does something smart or puts himself in the right position.

How many plays would have been nullified if just one member of the Rockets backed up Sengun's first stop on defense, instead of letting the other team get an uncontested offensive rebound and put back.

I bet we're going to see a whole lot of comments next season about 'omg Sengun has improved so much on defense'.

Might be true in some way. But the fact he's going to have good defenders around him is going to showcase his smarts and defensive awareness even more.

    Rant over.

Sorry @javal_lon didn't mean to rag on your post specifically.

I especially hope no longer being a rookie gets him at least some credit from the officials - I'd bet my life at least 1 in every 3 fouls for Sengun shouldn't have been called that season. There was so, so, so many times I was incredulous at him picking up a foul.

Sengun will need to pass more. Should set him a target of getting 8+ assists per game this season.

    Sengun is 6’9” with a 7’0” wingspan.

just like an average man, or an average ref, an average cf member doesnt bother thinking too much when hes set his mind on some view or stance...

I think another thing that'll help Sengun is that a lot of his most spectacular passes were missed because his teammates weren't playing attention.... they didn't think a pass was possible in a lot of those situations. They should know better going forward.

You can make a case to start Tate over Sengun
