Except it was a Constitutionally protected right for nearly 50 years. The Constitution didn’t changed. The makeup of the Court did.

Yes it was. That's why females today have fewer rights and freedoms than they had, yesterday.

Thomas writing in support is super scary. This was one of the rare times when the court has stripped citizens of their rights rather than protect them.

Thomas wrote what he did in hopes of striking down more rights that citizens have.

no, he really didn't. He wrote what he did to encourage the rest of the court to revisit the bad logic in other cases and to more firmly ground unenumerated "privacy" rights in more defensible constitutional theory

I'm embarrassed by this country or this state on like at least a bi-weekly basis these days.

Red vote just arguing to argue these days, just to win. Damn the consequences right? It doesn't matter if what should be the greatest country in history regresses into a **** hole, right? As long as red vote is in charge and no one is happy, they'll continue arguing about everything under the sun and pushing humanity into misery we never were meant to endure.

Go on, tell me how a Buzz Lightyear movie you didn't watch offends you, while actual humans woke up with less rights today than yesterday. Go on, tell me how it's your choice what you do with your body when it comes to smoking usb flash drive Juuls but a woman you've never met can't decide what to do with her body. ****ing idiots. Hypocrites. For shame.

You are correct if you simply erased the last 50 years.

You're a bored middle schooler with nothing to do during the summer, filled to the brim with insecurity and desperately trying to get attention from someone, from anyone. You're a child who just disappeared.

The argument that the people still have a right to abortion, they just have to not put in place laws that restrict it, doesn’t make sense to me. If you have a political system in which a class of people with more political power can take away the rights of others through legal machinations, then those aren’t actually “rights”.

As someone who's studying (among other things) International Law; I increasingly find the idea of inalienable rights to be a myth.

If it can be taken away from you, its not inalienable. Even things like euthansia are illegal- uou dont even have that right.

He conspicuously left out a pretty big case that was also decided under the equal protection clause in his concurrence!

The US had some of the most lenient abortion laws on the planet, far lesscrestrictive than, say, anywhere in Europe. Furthermore, over 62 MILLION fetuses had been aborted (or babies killed, depending on one's perspective) Regardless of one's stancevon abortion. I woukd think mostcwould agree that's a staggeringly large number. The US was one of only countries allowing late term abortion, where it becomes very hard to say not a life. And all thatbhsppened is puttibg this back on elected representatives to pass laws their constituents want. Given all that...in what way is this going backwards?

Apologies for not really reading through this thread yet. Addressing your point, that's how government power is exercised, via the will of the people. When a court should step in to prevent a legislative or congressional action, depends on your theory of juresprudence. I'm tyring to understand what you're saying by using another example instead of abortion. How is it different from most other rights defined by state (or local) government: mar1juana, stand-your-ground vs. obligation-to-run, assisted suicide rights? If SCOTUS decides that it's not protected by the Constitution, it can still be a protected right by National Law, Executive Order, State Constitutions, State Law, State Executive Orders. So abortion still can be a right through other means depending on the location.

Rights that were in place for decades just got stripped away, what do u mean?

    Did u miss this?

They are not stopping at just abortion.

states like Louisiana are implementing laws making abortion illegal for almost any reason from the moment of fertilization

"The Louisiana Legislature has taken the latest step in a growing attack against the fundamental freedoms of Americans," the statement said. "Louisiana’s extreme bill will criminalize abortion with no exceptions for rape or incest and punish reproductive healthcare professionals with up to 10 years in prison."

we are absolutely going backwards, that is abundantly clear
