He can't even force himself to be excited this Is the first time I seen a #1 pick just not be happy about being #1
Paolo wanted to be a Houston Rocket. I appreciate that. I wish him good luck against every team apart from our Houston Rockets.
To be fair, Paolo always kind of looks like this off the court. My wife describes his standard expression as "resting misery face"
Think he was just tired. All the photos, the media, interviews, stress and length of the draft (TV filming). I rather people who are chill than feign excitement. When guys cry as Silver announce their names, makes for good TV moments, but everyone reacts different. Both FL and TX no state income tax. He can go to Universal Studios/Disney World when he likes. Warm weather. #1 pick more millions and a status symbol. There's no need to feel bad. Think people (not you OP, but comments on the Internet) not just read too much into body language, but often read them incorrectly. The only person that probably should feel bad is Magic / media for leading Jabari on for all these months. People say Jabari was sad/disappointed when HOU made their 3rd pick, I say he seemed internally filled with relief. Don't worry Jabari, H-town will treat you right.
He doesnt pout. He may start chucking a little bit. His emotions regarding the draft wont permeate his play. He will lead that Orlando team.
Paolo and Jabari both mirrored the emotions of the fanbases of the teams they went to and were "supposed" to go to. Everyone was just kinda settled. I'm sure Jabari already had plans for stuff in ORL and Paolo had plans for stuff in HOU. The Magic pulling the UNO reverse totally screwed everything and now you gotta process that in real time in front of millions of viewers and TV personalities waiting to interview you. Hell...I'm still getting over it. The entire night I was in shock. I can't imagine what these two kids feel like.
