A bust as in out of the league in a couple of years? I would say his odds of that are the lowest of the whole draft. With his shooting, defense and size he should at the very least be a valuable 3&D guy. If you are talking but as in not develope into a star, I would say it’s close to 50/50 - he needs to develope his handles and create his own shot for that. But I could easily see him being a taller Klay Thompson with better defense - does that count as a star?
I just woke up, and I still can't freaking believe we got Jabari Smith. And Eason. But especially Jabari.
Yeah, the gap between their offense is bigger than the gap between their defense. So Jabari is better overall. People say that Jabari is not a creator. He may not be a good passer. But he is more than capable to create for himself because he needs very little space to hit shots. What he is lacking is driving and the ability to finish at rim. He is basically a jump shooter, a great one at that but that's what he is. That's why people compare him to Klay.
Im still in shock rockets getting the #1 pick dude. This guy is a Superstar type quality player. Think Bosh bro. OMG.
Question: “10 All-Stars and no ring or two rings and no All-Stars?” Banchero: “10 All-Stars.” We got the right guy. https://www.instagram.com/reel/CfKpbFhD8_E/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
That's kind of a stupid question to ask a young player Basically "would you rather be a superstar and make 500M over your career, or be a bench guy who makes 60M, but has 2 rings"
It’s a stupid question, but that’s the wrong answer. And the question certainly didn’t presuppose being a “bench guy.”
Well if you're a starter on a champion team, chances are you've made the all-star game at least once in your career.
Throughout the draft process I’d said that I liked Jabari over Mobley. Through two years in this draft there have really only been two alpha guys taken with the potential as a #1 guy on a championship team, and that was Cade and Jalen. After that, the top #2 guy on a possible chip team was Jabari. If Jalen can surpass Cade’s ceiling in the playoffs through his three level scoring and superior defense, you’re looking at the best 1 and the best 2 of the past two years. There isn’t a single team out there that got better than us in that time frame. Jalen, Jabari, Sengun is better than: Cade Ivey Durren Banchero Suggs Wagner Chet Giddey Dieng Mobley Agbaji Barnes Koloko Sochan Primo Branham Any other takers out there? Who else wants a piece?!
That’s not true at all, nor is it really the point. I guarantee Smith would have said rings. He literally said in his interview that he doesn’t care about stats and just wants to win.
A few additional thoughts: 1. Jabari Smith is one of the youngest players in the draft class. 2. Smith played in an offense at Auburn that didn't funnel the ball to him or feature him as a scorer. 3. Smith still has significant physical development ahead of him. 4. Smith's shooting form is PURE (which is very rare for a player with his physical tools) When Smith realizes that he's the best shooter on the court and the best athlete on the court (mix of strength, size, speed), he's going to develop another level of confidence and has the potential to be absolutely dominant. With 20 pounds of muscle added (he's only 19 y/o), he has Giannis-like physical potential but with a much better shot. If none of these things happen, his floor is still Rashard Lewis who was a 20ppg/20 PER player in his prime. If all of these things happen, he's an MVP candidate.
Kenny Smith never made an all star team. Vernon Maxwell never made an all star team. Robert Horry never made an all star team.
