Not sure why people are calling OP a prophet. He wanted to give away picks, a solid player, and more for someone we got without doing any of those. Tari was projected to go between 14-20, so he had a 15% chance at guessing it right. Now if somebody would have guessed Jabari at 3.... that's a different story as it was completely a wrap that he would go first, but to then have him fall to 3... wow.

    1. At the time of this post Eason was projected as high as 7-8 on several mock drafts, prior to the news of his poor interviews.
    2. We got him at 17 because we got lucky. Charlotte, Atlanta, Cleveland, and several other teams could have easily drafted him.
    3. If you have a specific target like Eason, it's okay to pay slightly more to get him if he is way above others on your wish list.
    4. I am not a prophet and I'm sure people don't see me as one. Maybe they're surprised I got the player I wanted in 2 consecutive years even though this year we did not need to trade up.

I called him a prophet in a playful way, not sure if you really think that any of us actually think he's a prophet.
That said, give him credit he deserves for getting our 2nd picks right two years in a row. The % chance of getting the pick right is irrelevant, the guy clearly has eye for talent and is knowledgeable enough to make educated guesses about our FO's draft strategy.

Can someone explain to me why this kid was allowed to drop to 17?

i mean … easy comparison … why would you take Sochan over Eason? Sochan is younger and a slightly better passer. Eason is better overall offensively by far imo cause he can legit shoot and just as good if not better defensively.

he didn’t go far behind AJ but why was he considered worse. Again better overall offensive player imo (solid shot, really right handle for his size, unstoppable in transition) and defensively it’s not even close.

it all comes down to age?? He’s not exactly old.

in ways it is easy to get as excited about Eason as Jabari. I think he was meaningfully undervalued. Just use the eye test. He’s an incredibly skilled ball handler at his size. He doesn’t have a deep bag but with his athleticism, ball handling and shot he can get that over time. PG13 and Kawhi didn’t come into the league with deep bags either.

The comp to Kawhi is incredibly solid imo.

why would I (anyone) want Johnny Davis over this guy?
