A trade scenario I’ve been kicking around since hearing Jake Fischer report on his podcast that we’re trying to expand our Mavs deal.

    4 team deal.

    Hou Out: Gordon, Wood, Nwaba
Hou In: Westbrook, Dal 26, Cha 13 or 15, LAL 2026 light protection, LAL 2027 light protection

Dal Out: Marjonavich, Burke, Brown, Chriss, 26
    Dal In: Wood

LAL Out: Westbrook, 2026 light protection 2027 light protection
LAL In: Hayward, Gordon, Boban, Brown, Nwaba

Cha Out: Hayward, 13 or 15
Cha In: Chriss, Burke, large TPE

    Hou rationale:
get rid of our vets, maintain flexibility for cap next year and get a bunch of better premium picks.

    Dal rationale:
deals agreed upon already from their standpoint

    LAL rationale:
Obtain two starters that fit LBJ and AD. The two starters also have additional years so LA isn’t in the same predicament of filling out roster next year. Clear out WB terrible fit and contract. Actually obtain serviceable role players like nwaba, Bo an and brown who kind of fit what they want around their stars.

    cha rationale:
Rumored to be wanting to clear cap for bridges. Hayward has always been injured and doesn’t fit their timeline. They also generate a huge TPE to go grab turner for a pick. I honestly think they need to give up two picks to us since they’re generating a huge TPE and get off haywards contract.

from Pistons writer for the Athletic

It was widely expected and rumored that Grant would bring back, at minimum, a lottery-level pick in a deal. That, clearly, did not happen here, and, per sources, this deal is the best offer the Pistons have received on Grant, even dating back to February’s trade deadline

same exact thing with us and Christian Wood

Their goal was open up cap space and they were able to get a sizable cap relief with jettisoning that contract. So feels like they did what they intended.

I just assumed there was some mix up.

There's no way a team that was in the finals last year and had the best record this year would just dump their 2nd and 3rd best players for picks and scraps from the worst team in the league. Unless, this is some minority report-ish method of tanking prior to actually sucking.

    OR
Just pick Eason at 17... he seems to be a post lotto pick on the consensus

If the Spurs get Collins AND picks for Murray then that is a massive coup

If Spurs do this they are 100% tanking for Victor Wembanyama because he plays for tony Parker's club In France. @D-rock might have to add Spurs to the list of tanking teams next season.

What do you guys think of this trade:

    Rockets get:

    Tobias Harris
    Danny Green

    Sixers get:

    John Wall
    Kenyan Martin Jr.
    Usman Garuba

    1) I said they probably wouldn't do it
    2) I listed the rationale for why they could

    Since you missed it...

    1) It's been reported they would like to shed salary to help keep Ayton. That hasn’t been Paul/Bridges reported but overpaid role players.

    2) John Wall could be an ok fot next to Booker. He would be a step down from Paul obviously but that's assuming Paul doesn't lose a step and stays healthier. So they wouldn't be accepting losing by making such a move possibly.

    3) The added draft picks lets them save on cap space from their bench.

    4) They should be able to open up max cap space next to Booker/Ayton after one season giving them a long term complement over Paul.

    5) The possible top 10 pick from Houston could mean adding 2 impact players (with free agent) to replace Bridges/Paul who would be younger and more long term fits.

I think it would be incredibly risky by them. A lot depends on how afraid they are of that Paul extension they just gave out and if they feel it's the difference between keeping Ayton or not.

What were the Rockets willing to pay to get away from Chris Paul money? What if the Suns have a similar fear and they give up Bridges instead of several picks?

Not saying wise to do, saying there could be a logical reason for them to do so depending on how they are evaluating their situation and who they prefer to keep.

    Martin
    Garuba
    Wall
    Green
    Harris

Green's contract is not guaranteed if he is released by July 1st. This makes him valuable.

That's why i have him above Harris. It's not enough cap space to do anything though so i have Wall above him because you're unlikely to get another 30 million in expiring contracts with Green to offset Wall's.
