Justin Dirden with a 3B and a HR tonight. He is looking like he will finish his 2nd consecutive month with >1000 ops in AA. He might actually be a prospect. We need to see him in AAA now.
Korey Lee hit his 10th HR tonight. He’s having a solid (but still unspectacular) June. Hopefully it’s the start of an upward trajectory that has him ending the season back projecting as a potential star C.
Asheville lost 9-2 in Greensboro. Kenedy Corona was one of the few bright spots for the Tourists today as he went 2-3 with his first High-A homer, giving him 10 on the year between both A stops.
Jake Meyers hit a 2nd homer tonight. Displayed some of the opposite field power that was a solid part of his success last year. Hope he’s ready and able to perform near the level he was at last year. The big league club could definitely use a healthy Meyers
McCormick just ain't cutting it at CF, and while Siri is somehow on track for a 3 WAR season, a 67 OPS+ is fatal to a team with two other black holes in the lineup, three if you don't think Bregman improves. I don't expect Meyers to return to his 2021 form, and it might be pretty brutal if he keeps up a 30% SO%. The only thing Chas improved on this year was cutting the strikeouts down by nearly 8% (32% to 24%), which would be beautiful if his bat improved with his plate patience.
Meyers is the stud we need to give us a spark in the second half of the season. He has All-star potential. We also need to see what he can do before the trade deadline arrives and we need to make decisions on trades.
Yeah, Meyers looks good enough that I'm ready to get him back out there. I want him to get as many MLB reps as possible.
