http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=1831594 I know everyone was expecting him to opt out and us to have that extra cash for a starter quality PG. Does this affect us now that he's decided to stay or does it just give us a good backup?
We are over the limit with or without him so there would have been no extra cash to go shopping by him opting out.
Probably good considering he'll likely be a backup. Pretty good backup PG. If the Rocks get Eric Snow with the TE, they could still land Barry with the MLE and a big man with the veteran's exception (Skinner?). Wow.
Just because he hasn't opted out does not mean that he will not. Has he said publicly that he was not going to. I have not heard that. The only way I want Snow is if we sign Barry or Van Exel also...
How much is Lue's contract for? I was thinking $1.7M. That's not bad for the production. Wasn't Moochie making 3 or 4 as a backup?
Well they changed the article that my link was pointing to. My article was only a few paragraphs long and it mentioned at the end that Lue could opt out but he decided to stay and play for the Rockets.
Definitely good. Think about it this way: Lue makes as much as 2 Adrian Griffins. And Lue will actually play.
It's good because he can now be our backup pg. If he ended up leaving we'd have to find two pg's on the FA market. And he's only making about 1.6 million for one more year so it's not like we're breaking the bank to keep him.
Jeff, If we get Snow, & Lue stays, I'd rather see the Rockets go for a big man & a SF like Rodney White from Denver. I think he's ready to come into his own. In fact, I'd go after White first. I'd also consider making a run at Bruce Bowen as a reserve defensive specialist. As for big men, Skinner, Ostertag, Etan Thomas (restricted FA), Scott Williams, Loren Woods, Mamadou N'diaye, Karl Malone (just to piss off the haters ), Adonal Foyle, & Jason Collier (just to piss the other haters off ) would all make good backups.
I like Lue's pesky defense and against those small PGs he'll be an asset. Small PGs usually had a field day on Francis.
I agree. Lue was all over Iverson in the NBA Finals a few years ago and was a constant menace to Philly after the Lakers lost game one.
