I think the big problem comes back to religion and faith.

The stereotypical TX conservative is a white Christian. They have been indoctrinated to believe in certain things like Jesus as your Lord and Savior and to not question them AT ALL. Obviously Noah and the magical zoo boat and the rest of the Biblical fairy tales make zero sense but you must have FAITH to the point of blind willful ignorance.

You take that indoctrination and then keep applying it to other things like abortion. Eventually what happens is you have a subset of the population who is completely convinced of a whole lotta stuff like the election was stolen, Pelosi kills the children that Hillary doesn’t, etc.

There’s no evidence of this stuff anymore than there is of SS Zoo Boat but the ability to question what’s illogical especially when surrounded by your group is just gone. They believe that what they feel is right is right. Diverse viewpoints even logical ones just don’t apply.

Faith is a terrible, terrible thing. Seems to make people completely lose their grip on reality. Which by design seems to be the point of the charlatans who’ve used it to control since the beginning.

I think when you can't see that the people preaching about Christianity are complete hypocrites, doing everything from spreading lies, and hate about others, bullying people, cheating on their wives, associating with sex traffickers and hate groups, stealing from childrens' charities, committing sexual assault, white collar crimes, and on and on, you might be in a cult.

If you think the whole country should be under religious laws, based on your version of that Bible then you are a right wing extremist Christian. This country is supposed to be a place of religious freedom, and separation of church and state. Democrats aren't any more atheist than Republicans. They just don't believe in forcing their beliefs down everyone's throats.

If the Texas gov't can't be trusted to abide by fair elections, all its electoral votes should be forfeited and not counted unless they have a neutral third party conduct the elections and decide how to choose the electoral votes.

People here also defend KKK lynchings and accuse black students of causing trouble.

They like black men as athletes but don't want them voting.

I hear the n-word a lot during games with out of towners...

I never understood how some rich woman in a southern mansion could trust a slave to hold, raise, and care for her babies, yet not consider them clean enough or human enough to use their bathroom or eat a meal in the same room as them. I also never understood how a man referred to as a southern gentleman could chain up and lynch another man. Doesn't sound like a gentleman to me. What kind of bibles were they reading down in that Bible Belt anyway.

Bibles that were selectively edited to be pro-slavery (I wish I was joking).

Can you imagine the laws they would make? Hell, they can't even keep the lights on. Imagine hurricanes and tropical storms with no Federal assistance. Can you imagine the extremist anti-LGBQT laws that would take effect? Would they ban blacks from voting and deport anyone who did something like get a traffic ticket? Would they allow ghost guns and AR-15s for kids?

Secession? LOL…Houston, Austin, Dallas, San Antonio, and El Paso can stay

    The rest? Bye

TX is an irrelevant flyover state without Houston, Austin, and Dallas…TX is Mississippi or Alabama without them

so take the rest of TX and go secede

I was in Lubbock recently, place looks depressing AF…so bye, u won’t be missed

The problems for secession for Texas alone are endless, but more than anything the immediate at least cold Civil War that'll manifest will be unsustainable. You'd immediately see the Texas GOB (good ole boys) take a hard line autocratic stance towards Houston, Austin, and Dallas, and would only know to bully the cities. The Country of Texas would be run by rich people who don't live in the cities and feel safe in their cocoons, and immediately there would be a huge backlash of an autocratic country with leaders in their ivory towers. It would be a nightmare situation even if that's the only thing, but it won't be.

Second will be hurricanes. Holy crap, people have no idea what they'd be in for without FEMA assistance, AND the MASSIVE cost increases to home owners and flood insurance without federal assistance. Anywhere within 40 miles of the coast one would think would be far too expensive to live in full time, and you'd see town after town go to sh$t after a hurricane where the town can't get assistance, and people just foreclose, and move out.

Third would be the threat if Mexico ever built up a military. This is a longterm problem, and not a short term one because Mexico doesn't have a strong army currently, but who knows what happens in 40 years. Texas was originally part of Mexico, and look at what is happening in Ukraine because the wrong strongman just wanted to rehash history. Regardless giving up the security blanket of the US military would be stupid for Texas. Even from a cyber perspective, just imagine what happens without the FBI, NSA, and DID assets helping us out.

Regardless... seceding from the Union is utterly stupid. Not to mention stupid for the US GOP who would be freaking out with the lose of 38 electoral votes.

Paxton and Abbott will always fight to allow corporations to go unregulated and pollute Texas water sources, put workers at risk, or put the people of Texas at risk. It's all about money for them. People don't matter. Clean air and water isn't important to them as the money fed to their pockets from these corporations spewing chemicals and toxins into our air and water.

Why would Texans want this? Why would they want their kids living and working in a more toxic or dangerous workplace or environment?

Paxton has also been under indictment for three felonies since 2015. Paxton was all in for letting Grandma die of COVID instead of wearing a mask and social distancing. Paxton led the charge to change the vote for Trump with tax payer funded recounts around the country. Paxton is unfit to be Texas' Attorney General

Now Greg, what about the 26 mass shootings in Texas since Oct 1, 2022? Where's your outrage over the slaughters going on from Texans killing Texans? Loose gun laws are on you Mr. NRA loving hypocrite.

Isn't the fact that they stopped these people proof the border isn't completely wide open?

No, no. They stopped these people, confirmed they were on the terrorist watchlist, then gave them Obama phones and waved them through.
