This is just more examples that there is no reasonable opposition to greater firearm regulation. Even though in the Federalist papers Hamilton made it clear that "well regulated" is exactly what we think it is. A militia would be disciplined with command and control and not just individual armed citizens. Even though the late Justice Scalia, one of the most Originalist justices in modern history, said that regulations and restrictions could be made on firearms. Instead we're seeing arguments for that private individuals should be able to own cannons and warships.
Responsible gun owners should very much be fore Red Flag laws and increased background checks. The irresponsible use of firearms is the greatest threat to your ownership of firearms.
In that day and age militia men owned their own firearms and brought them to service with them to "form" the militia... the individual members of the militia needed to own firearms .... it's not like militia, by and large, showed up somewhere and the government then distributed arms... hence the "right of the people to Keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed" - pretty obvious "keep" means at home here.
Do you know what the gun show loophole is? Yes every state has to abide by a federal law for background checks for FEDERALLY LICENSED DEALERS. Many states don't have the same requirement for private sales. Nothing is stopping a dude having his wife berate him to sell his excess firearms at a gun show as a private seller. And no background checks required.
good luck with that Bill Clinton offers advice on talking to pro-gun rights activists: ‘Don’t talk down to them’ https://thehill.com/blogs/in-the-kn...-gun-rights-activists-dont-talk-down-to-them/
You don't have to sell them at a gun show as a private seller. You can sell them at your house, a parking lot, a bomb shelter, or the moon. The law is the same at a gun show as it is anywhere else, thus there is no gun show loophole.
It's just they gun shows are popular places for private sellers. That's all. If you don't want to call it a gun show loop hole we can just call it a "private seller" loophole.
Yes that is very obvious in the Federalist papers and is also how Switzerland and Israel conducts things. Switzerland is frequently brought up since it has a lot of firearms and relatively little firearm violence. While the Swiss own a lot of guns all sales beyond single shot weapons require a permit and are recorded. Buying ammunition also requires a permit.
another example of the New York legislature passing hastily-written, ill-conceived laws NY’s new restriction on body vests touted by Hochul hardly bullet-proof https://nypost.com/2022/06/20/new-ny-law-on-body-vests-touted-by-hochul-hardly-bullet-proof/
one reason why gun activists oppose mandatory gun registration programs Names, addresses of every concealed carry permit holder in California exposed, officials say https://thehill.com/homenews/354119...t-holder-in-california-exposed-officials-say/
ugh What does the New York Conceal Carry Law Require? A lot. https://reason.com/volokh/2022/07/01/what-does-the-new-york-conceal-carry-law-require/
If good old NRA blood money Greg Abbott blames the immigrants found dead in a truck in Texas on Biden then he is to blame for road rage killings like this happening daily in his loose gun law state of Texas. He is to blame for all the dead kids in school shootings, and every other random act of violence with gun toting Texans then.
