6'8 PG in Giddey allows OKC lots of position flexibility.

Both Sharpe and Ivey would add some much needed speed and verticality to that Thunder starting lineup. And both long for their size.

Neither Yao or Sampson broke my heart.

Loved both players and both players did great things for Rockets.

Both are part of Rockets Pantheon of Greats.

Thunder most likely trying to get as many picks In the 2023 draft in hopes that they can package all those picks to move up if they need to for Victor imagine having 5 frp in a Draft people consider strong.

If I was in OKC's position, I'm trying to do a similar move to their acquisition of Paul George; target pending free agents in the summer of 2023, and see if any teams who might be afraid of losing a player outright could be tempted by a huge draft pick package. Once they're in OKC, dare them to leave the extra money on the table by walking after a year.

IMO, the free agency class in 2023 is pretty poor; nearly all of the UFAs are extremely veteran guys who don't make any sense for a rebuilding roster like LeBron, Harden, Kyrie. Jokic is obviously phenomenal, but I highly doubt he leaves Denver. I'm not over the moon excited about maxing D'Angelo Russell or Andrew Wiggins, even if they are all-stars.

In contrast, 2024 is shaping up to be a potentially league-altering FA class, with multiple guys between 28-30 to whom you would feel very comfortable giving a designated player max. Furthermore, the league could be operating under a new CBA, meaning some uncertainty as to what contracts are going to look like.
    • Pascal Siakam, Age 30.2
    • Karl-Anthony Towns, Age 28.6
    • Devin Booker, Age 27.7
    • Jaylen Brown, Age 27.7
    • Domantas Sabonis, Age 28.2
    • Dejounte Murray, Age 27.8 (Potential Pop Retirement?)
    • Fred VanVleet, Age 30.4
    • Taylor Horton-Tucker, Age 23.6 (In the eyes of Lakers' Fans)
Is it likely that all these guys move? Probably not. But I could see some teams getting a bit worried and trying to sell early. Being able to take a 1-year flyer on some of these guys for the cost of a bunch of picks you probably weren't going to be able to use seems like a very solid bet to me.

The Rockets could also be in position to do something similar in the upcoming critical summer of 2023. To me, this is the clear reason why you don't worry about the fit of Sengun/Banchero in the long run; as long as they both show out on the court, either one could be the centerpiece for a future deal to get someone who fits better as part of the core.

Sengun was ok. He's 19. Banchero will be 19? 20? Give them a chance to grow. Neither one is a finished product.

Sengun's biggest defensive problem, individually speaking, is his tendency to try to contest everything. He ends up jumping into players, not straight up and down resulting in fouls. Sometimes you gotta contest, you end up fouling. Sengun had probably 2 a game that were completely out of reach but he's going for them anyway. He's got room to grow but cutting down the silly baby deer rookie fouls is step 1.

I've seen people on reddit saying he can't guard Curry. #1 Curry will be an old ****ing man by the time Sengun (and hopefully the Rockets) are peaking. #2 no big can. It's just unrealistic. Unreasonable. Kinda dumb.

If we listened to you we'd have Ben Simmons as our best player sitting on the bench in street clothes, with no Jalen Green.

Gotta remind the ppl who you REALLY are

No. Chet is not quick enough to guard smaller guards. He will get out muscled his who career. When he under achieves, all you'll do is blame Coach Silas like you did with Sengun.

    Yep.

    LMAO

Thought of you when I heard he turned MJ down.

Still a chance but not a very good one. KA doesn't want to work for shetty franchises seems like.

Kenny has a championship ring technically with the Warriors (as an assistant).

It's funny that Kenny did it; but also, it's kind of like, if you're not sure about the job why go to the interview.

Hey at least it opens the door for Rockets to get a crack at him in the future.

How quickly can we put together a package for #4 if OKC passes on one of the big guys? Getting Chet and Paolo would be insane.

I wish this was true, but I highly doubt it.

That said, if it is true, do the Rockets then take Chet or do they stick with Banchero?

I’d be a little hesitant after Chet tried to push his way to OKC but I’d really consider it.

I just can't see them taking Ivey at #2. BUT if they really like him, I am sure they would. Presti follows his gut. I am giving up everything I can for #4 if this is the case. Protect the 2023 pick but go all out otherwise.

#17, Mil pick, Tate, All Net assets.

    #3-Paolo
    #4-Holmgren
    #26-MJB

We cross that bridge when we get to it on potentially getting Victor. Evaluate this rotation this year...

Paolo and Holmgren each play 5 mintes as a big wing per game. Allowing Garuba 16-20 min. Paolo, Holmgren and Sengun all gettimg 28-32.

    Sengun/Holmgren/Garuba
    Paolo/Holmgren
    KMJ/MBC
    Green/Jaygup
    KPJ/Nix

Why would we trade all of our assets for Chet? Y’all are funny, I swear lol
