I was a sophomore in college when I first heard about WoW chapters….I am now 31 with the tv show finishing 4ish years ago. if you’re going to tell fans you’ve planned for a release don’t b**** after being late by over a decade https://www.ign.com/articles/george-rr-martin-winds-of-winter-late-fans-vicious?amp=1 George R.R. Martin Knows Winds of Winter Is Late, But Says Fans Can Be 'Vicious' "I say, 'Happy Thanksgiving' and they say 'Where's the book?'" By Ryan Dinsdale Updated: 20 May 2022 8:55 pm Posted: 20 May 2022 3:18 pm Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin has admitted The Winds of Winter is late but wishes some fans weren't quite so mean about it. As reported by GameSpot, Martin commented on Idris and Sabrina Elba's Coupledom Podcast to say that the internet has created a much more "vicious" fanbase than he saw previously. "I get that Winds of Winter, the sixth book is late," he said. "I could get a hundred good comments but there are still a few fans who are going to remind me on my blog; I say 'Happy Thanksgiving' and they say 'never mind Happy Thanksgiving, where's the book'?" Martin added: "I love the fans, although I do think Twitter and the internet and social media has brought out a viciousness I never saw in the old days. Love and hate are very close, particularly with something like comic books or any established franchises." The Winds of Winter is the sixth book in Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire fantasy epic but, especially perhaps due to the popularity of the Game of Throne TV adaptation, fans have grown impatient for it's long-promised release. Martin has given several release windows for the book, the first being in early 2014, but has missed themrepeatedly. See gallery While finishing The Winds of Winter has always been his priority, Martin has also spent time creating the background history and lore of hit FromSoftware game Elden Ring and has more recently been working on the Game of Thrones spin-off show House of the Dragon. The show will be a prequel to Game of Thrones, focusing on the origins of the Targaryen family long before the novel and TV series take place, and is due to release this August.
You could be right. If he finishes this promised novel, it'll probably be so thick that I'll have to use my e-reader. Martin is the reason I bought one in the first place. I have a hard time holding up a 700-800 page tome at my age. Sad, but true. That my back is really screwed up doesn't help any.
He doesn't have a plan for a good conclusion, he never had a plan for one. That's why the last 2 books have been glorified filler material. He doesn't even want to write these books anymore. The main plot has barely advanced in 22 years now.
He won't live to do it. HBO will turn Game Of Thrones into what Disney is doing with Star Wars with unlimited woke spin offs by hack writers who never read the books or watched the original series
To be successful he has to both tune it out, and tune it in. His ego has to be small enough to understand the property is now in the hands of many, not one. But at the same time, tun out the haters in such a way that you enjoy what you are doing. It's a fine line between wanting everyone to love what you do and loving what you do.
