If only the GOP would vote to protect Americans instead of the ones paying them off...... Profiteering is what is happening. DD
It's funny I actually called this during Trumps last year. He was spending like crazy and I mentioned it here how inflation was coming. I was told that wouldn't happened because of stocks and caps or some bullshit.
Is the GOP in control of Apple and other tech companies? I think not.. This whole argument that big oil just robs people and makes so much money is completely false. Many of those companies reinvest their profits in R&D to reduce emissions and etc. You really should read something and get some facts before posting your usual propaganda. FY21 top 10 most profitable US companies:
LOL you think most of the profits of oil companies go to R&D? It goes to shareholders and Apple most likely has more money going to R&D than oil companies. I have no idea what that graph is supposed to mean the same critiques of oil companies are the same as apple.
I didn’t say reinvest all of their profits, I said they invest profits into it. Again, a quick look online would educate you. https://www.statista.com/statistics/281239/research-and-development-costs-of-exxon-mobil/ How much of apples profits go to share holders? LOL. What a lousy argument.
Where were you eating? Was it one of those overpriced national chains that like to act like they're god's gift to the culinary world? There's plenty of those in Austin. I try to avoid them, but we have a couple of friends who'll ask if we want to have lunch with them. "Sure, we'll meet you for lunch. Where?" Half the time "where" is one of those places. Not wanting to be impolite by replying, "Are you nuts? Overpriced OK food with $13 dollar margaritas?" We shrug and go anyway. It's the curse of being polite, I guess. We can afford the places, but they make me feel cheated.
My Niece was having a hard day I asked where she wanted to eat. She said 5 Guys Burgers I didn't think much of it. . . ordered. . . honestly I only glance at the menu Once I did I say the Prices. WOW! This is a Menu I found online. BUT IT IS NOT ACCURATE!!!! Add Like 2 Dollars to everything MIND YOU . . .EVERYTHING IS ALA CART!!! No Combos Burger - 10$ Fries - 5$ Drink - 4$ I was in my mind kind of fuming when I heard the cost but I charged it to the cost of being a "Good Uncle" for the day Rocket River
I only went there once and it was just ok no way I am spending 8 bucks for a single cheeseburger. I hope your niece enjoyed it at least.
People will start talking with their wallets soon enough. Discretionary spending like eating out will get slaughtered with the current rates. I enjoy Canes. When I first started going in like 2010 or so a Caniac combo was around $10-11 bucks... now its $15-16 and the chicken strips feel smaller.. I use to go all the time when I was younger.. now it's quite rare. It's just too expensive for what it is at this point.
Wow! I wouldn't have guessed that it was that place. Crazy. New York City prices in Houston? There's one at Arbor Trails in SW Austin that I've been to once, maybe twice in 3 or 4 years, mainly to just pick up a malt to drink. Good malts, although they're expensive as well. Like you, I have a hard time getting used to the prices these days. We didn't go out much for two years due to the pandemic. Heck, for what a burger, fries and iced tea or a Coke would cost (or less) at 5 Guys, I can get a great plate of any one of half a dozen different kinds of pasta, or a very tasty personal sized pizza, plus an excellent Italian salad and iced tea or a Coke at Mandola's Italian Kitchen, in the same Arbor Trails shopping area, and for about 12 dollars at lunch. Authentic Italian! I'm stuffed, the meal was excellent, and they're playing Sinatra from the 1940's and 50's on their sound system.
Agreed. I am seriously never going back It will take some MAJOR convincing . . .. Even if someone else is paying I know of several places in Houston that would have been better food for smaller price. Rocket River
This. When people stop spending so much on discretionary stuff prices will start coming down and that will be across the spectrum.
