Random question, is Seth Martinez legit? Seems like he only plays when it's a blowout (winning or losing).
Yes. Has been spotting his FB and his SL has been nasty. I hope they keep him in the pen somehow once other pitchers start to come back.
So far so good is really all we can say at this point. He's done everything asked of him well. He's been more of a long reliever, multiple inning role Javier had when he wasn't in the rotation.
"The Bat" must work very differently from other projection systems like Steamer/ZiPS. It has Martinez projected as a very good reliever (3.2 ERA/3.4 FIP) (better than Pressly this season) while the others have him being more or less mediocre, which seems to align with his overall performance. The only way I could see Martinez actually being good is if he's one of those rare guys like Baez used to be who's good at avoiding barrels and not much else. Those guys are rare though so more likely he's just been lucky.
Missed the game unfortunately, but did watch that 6th inning on delay. What an inning! I bet nearly every WS fan is asking themselves what happened, and many of them reaching an old and tired conclusion. Should we brace for another media explosion on the Astros? The offense picking things up now is good timing. Mets and Yankees all next week and most of the week after that.
Looking at the White Sox lineup and checking Tim Anderson’s stats, the White Sox have no player with 10 homers on the season. Surprising.
I thought maybe Maldy was making some hitting progress but he was just awful this last game. He's an easy out if you just throw to the outside of the plate cause he'll swing at it with no chance of making contact.
