wouldn't trading EG to them make more sense? They wouldn't want wall and melo together when both need the ball in their hands a ton
You're probably right though I thought about penny pinching Jordan when I threw this together. Getting out of 42 million worth of salary next summer gotta be enticing to MJ. Unfortunately we don't have enough salary to match Hayward's 29 million with Gordon...unless we threw in Nwaba and some of the Mavericks cast off
Dump Wall and move up 13 spots. Yes, please. Not sure why Charlotte would do that but love your optimism.
Charlotte needs a big they are going to stay put or try and move up. Our only chance was wood and they didn’t bite. I wouldn’t be surprised if they get Myles Turner or grant
Perhaps, but that's speculation and history now. The 17th and the 26th might give us a chance to move up. There might be a chance to attach KMJ here if there is a fool proof deal to move up for Mark Williams or Jalen Duran. Washington might be the best trade partner for Houston.
lol purely financial reasons. Hayward is on the hook for $60 million until summer of 2024. This trade would save Jordan a decent amount of coin with Wall's expiring. Plus, think of the headlines! "Wall comes back home to play in his home state" lol
I like this idea with EG instead of Wall and this being 2/3 teams to trade up into the lottery with 13 and 17. People will complain about next offseasons cap space, but the FA's next offseason stink
I think we’ll have an easier time trading EG than Wood. I also think we can turn #17 or #26 into future picks in stronger drafts. There is actually no pressure for us to draft anywhere other than #3. So this was a total rebuild move; which I like. I won’t be disappointed if we convert #17 into a future asset and draft someone at #23 or Vice versa, or both. Or use one or both of those picks to move up. Or use one or both of them to trade for a young rising talent. I’m gonna keep an open mind and see what Stone can do. We know he’s got to trade at least one of those picks.
Would anyone be opposed to a S&T with Phoenix where we trade them: Gordon Boban Nwaba #17 #26 for S&T Ayton ? It's a pipe dream given the collection of players we're sending to Phoenix but Gordon definitely fills that void Phoenix had in the playoffs against Dallas (e.g. another go to scorer), Boban and Nwaba are salary fillers and they can fill the rest of the roster with the two picks. It would be an interesting dynamic with Ayton and Sengun up front but Ayton would fill in nicely next to Paolo and Green
I love JC enough to not put him in a trade to move up a few spots. Garuba....I can part with him but I haven't seen enough from him to trade him yet. Guy was rated as an elite defender going into last year's draft so I want to see if he can fulfill his potential.
I like him too. So will other GMs. JC + 17 might even get you a 11 or 10 or maybe even higher. The only problem with JC is that JG will be getting the lion share of the 2 minutes. If not now, probably later ... JC will get traded, especially if he looks to be a solid NBA starting rotation playe or starter..
those guys are both high upside player who got limited minutes last year. Christopher could be a starter one day; he’s that good. And we just don’t know what we have in Garuba, but we need defense and rebounding and he brings both. I would focus on trading EG, who probably won’t make it through a full season healthy. I would make Tate (or KJ Martin) available as well, but I’m okay keeping him if he’s too valuable to the team dynamic. At least he plays defense.
JC can coexist with Green for now. If/when Stone trades Gordon that opens up a lot of time for JC to be the 1st guard off the bench. His potential on both ends of the floor is too good to trade for now. If someone were to give me an 8/9/10 pick for him and 17....I might have to think about it but it would take a while to come to a decision lol
I wonder if there's some legal combination of that, but getting Sacramento involved where thr 4th pick goes to us and Ayton goes to Kings... without us parting with our 2023 pick
The first trade is bad for us. The second one might be ok, if Houston selects and retains Mark Williams.
