I see the phrase "untouchable" thrown around a lot on here. How would you personally define that phrase, and based on your definition, which players on the roster (or soon to be) are "untouchable?" To me, "untouchable," from a practical sense, means no team would give the value I would accept for a player. So, yes, I would trade Green for Luka, but that's not happening, so Green is, for these purposes, "untouchable." I'd lump Sengun and the #3 pick into that category, too.
This thread still remains true https://bbs.clutchfans.net/threads/identifying-the-rockets-core.315077/
Green and Paulo. That's it. I am a huge AlP stan when it comes to enjoying his game, but I'm not convinced he has the tools to be a key piece for a playoff team. Either he has to become a plus defender, or he has to become a competent shooter. The latter is probably more likely but the signs weren't that good. Guy's a basket-seeking missile as a rim attacker, but he doesn't really even have a post jumper, either a face up or turnaround. I love him, but I would trade him in a heartbeat for a likely future All-Star who fits our timeline and meshes with our lineup. (I would, though, be broadly against trading Sengun now. Simply because there's no reason for us to be hunting stars right now.) I don't think KPJ is a player you want starting on your playoff team. I wouldn't trade him without a plan for what we do at the 1 position, but he's definitely not untouchable.
KPJ, Green, Sengun, and whoever we pick at #3 KPJ as long as he shows mental maturity. Green was a obvious and easy success for the organization but KPJ seems like Stones personal project. If he can turn KPJ into a all star and a top backcourt with Green. It will only add to his case as executive of the year if we start winning The way Stone didn’t really let a peep out about the halftime issue showed me he’s kinda protecting this kid unless he really ****s up
Green, KPJ, Sengun, and the #3 pick are all untouchable from a practical standpoint.... all could be had for the right offer, but that offer isn't coming. Those 4 will be the young core of the team moving forward.
Green, #3, Sengun & Gup. Jalen & possibly Paolo are our star duo while Sengun & Christopher have 6th man of the year potential. KMJ as well if he develop a 3&D mentality because he’d be cheap off the bench with those 2 guys
@Codman Already told us who the untouchables are he was right about the wood being traded and he is most likely right about the untouchables are,
If true, we'll see how Tate handles the 3 this year. I'm not as sold on him as some, but I am fine with giving it a try.... but the talk about his 3 improving better be true if we're putting him at the 3. If he handles that sufficiently it pretty much locks in the starting 5 for the next several years with KPJ Green Tate #3 (Banchero) Sengun
In Clutch's thread, I was Green and Sengun as core pieces. Now with the prospect of adding Paolo, I'm thinking it is just Green. I really don't like the defensive fit of Paolo and Sengun as it will take one or both to have a big step forward defensively for it to work. There is al chance that the Paolo and Sengun frontcourt will be so dynamic offensively that Rockets beat up on some weak teams this year. Though in the end, I expect one of Paolo and Sengun will be dealt within the next 2 years.
