Will we get anything from the Lakers for Rudy? I believe we had to give up a draft choice for JVG to the knicks.

We didn't have to give up anything. The Knicks agreed to release him. My bet is that the Rockets won't get anything from LA. I'm sure the deal with Rudy was if he got another coaching job, his re-negotiated contract would be voided and both he and the team would be off the hook for whatever was remaining.

Hey Jeff any chance they throw in Shaq, Kobe and Magic Johnson (I'm sure he has a little left in the tank);)

The way these other threads make it sound, we can probably get Shaq for Rudy + MoT + MLE.

I don't think we'll get anything. The 76ers let Larry Brown walk, even though they were entitled to compensation. Don't forget, Rudy T isn't even our coach anymore.

I think the diffrence Mack is that Larry Brown was a "free agent"

Rudy is not our coach, but he is still under contract with the Houston Rockets. Thats why we had to give him permission to talk to LA.

I still doubt we will get anything at all.

*still holdin out for Shaq Kobe and Magic...

Maybe with another coach, but I don't think we'd do that with Rudy. It's not like he quit on us or anything.... since he left with cancer. and it has always been rumored he was forced out.. i doubt we'd make them give us something for him

strange to even be talking about this.. rudy is probably my favorite sports person period..

Brown had two more years on his contract. The 76ers owner was nice enough to let him go without any compensation.

Larry Brown was still under contract and the Sixers let him walk without compensation. I think because he wasnt leaving for a specific team but a change of scenary. If LBrown left for another (or made it known at the time they might have requested compensation)

JVG was under contract with NYK and I think we sent them a low draft pick or something. Someone refresh my memory but I remember JVG saying something about that. He was mad that the Knicks requested anything at all *I think his relationship with them was pretty bad.

Rudy T is still under contract with the Rox even though they paid out some of his contract when he stepped down. Kind of like we did with Egriffin (buyout) ..

It'd be pretty classless to ask a coach to "retire" and then refuse him the opportunity to coach elsewhere.
