Trade to be announced Wednesday??? MSNBC now says also... Okay, So a few people I know have been looking into full season & half-season ticket packages (on sale now - mini packs not 'til later). Two of them told me today that the ticket reps they spoke with said not to worry about the trade getting unraveled & that they were confident it would be announced Wednesday. Of course the reps could have been talking out of their asses- trying to make sure the season ticket buyers didn't get cold feet at the prospect of a T-Mac-less season, but I really doubt that... I don't think Rockets ticket reps (who have always gone out of their way to help my friends & I when it came to buying ticket packs) would be playing games w/ season ticket buyers if they didn't have some degree of confidence that it would really happen...
Wow - that article posted to MSNBC 4 minutes after my bored & increasingly scared-for-the-deal ass posted here! Oh, did I mention: Whoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!! (Please be true) Whooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!
Our sales reps don't have any inside information -- they're pretty much going off of all the same information everybody else is getting. It was mentioned before in another forum, but when deals of this magnitude are in progress, the list of those truly "in the know" gets very short. Deals in general are complicated, delicate negotiations, and keeping the participant list short gives everybody involved the best chance of getting the best possible deal. That said, when and if the deal is announced, we expect a big run on season tickets. We have had people calling in trying to make sure they get in before the rush so that they can get the best possible seats. And, although you can probably figure it out already, those of us in the business offices of the team are agonizing over this whole issue as much as all of you. We'd all like to see it get resolved. Tim
Thanks for the info, Tim. (This is why Tim is so good at his job: He made me feel as though he gave us info, even though he didn't.) When this is all over, if the deal goes through, please tell those on the inside that we would love an account in the Chronicle or somewhere, presumably unattributed, of why this dragged out so long and whether Weisbrod really is as big an ass as he appears to be.
Tim, thanks for stopping in and posting! If this deal DOES go through. It would be great to see Yao at the T-mac press conference. Yao is in Dallas right now. How difficult would it be to fly him into Houston to be here for the press conference? Speaking of marketing....Maybe a GREAT photo opportunity to get Yao and Tmac in Rockets jerseys!

I'd like to hear weisass's explanation as well. Not that it matters just curious. One thing is for sure he is one hell of a B@#$S#@$%'er.
Heh. Our sales guys pump me for information when I go through the sales room at least as much as anybody here. For a good salesperson, this is the kind of stuff you love, and we've got plenty of good sales reps upstairs. Somebody mentioned mini-packs upstream -- in case you're interested, we won't be selling those until mid-August. The way it works: July - Full season tickets only (although if we can match up half-season buyers with a partner to make up one full season account, we'll do that as well). end of July - schedule gets released, and we get a chance to put together the mini-pack schedules. early August - previous mini-pack buyers ONLY will get first chance at 2004-05 mini-packs. (You have to be loyal to the folks who've been loyal to you, so that's what we'll do.) mid-August - mini-packs go on sale to the general public. Single game tickets for the regular season won't go on sale until some time in October. Sales are already up vs. last year even before any potential trade bump kicks in, so availability for certain key games will be very limited. This forecast brought to you by your friendly neighborhood NBA franchise. Tim
Look, Tim, you don't have that VP tag in front of your name for nothing. I say you march right into Les' office and start demanding some answers! Enquiring minds want to know! Tim's next post after that demand would be ex-VP Tim...
Wow Tim! You'd make a great GM. I hear there may be an opening with the Magic. They have to wait a little while longer before they can coin the phrase "T-Mac Mini Pack" for marketing purposes.
