Rockets basically been an AAU squad since the Harden trade…no structure, guys just trying to put up numbers, and it doesn’t matter if we win or lose Rockets don’t even bother to discipline players…u can throw stuff at the coaching staff, leave the arena without permission, and then get a measly 1 game suspension…u can refuse to check into a game and get a measly 1 game suspension Where’s the accountability?
"CWood also wants to leave this youth movement. The sad thing with CWood is that he has the "Dwight" syndrome. He so badly wants to be the man, or center of attention lol, that he has created the same locker room divide that Dwight caused during the end of his stint here. It became bad enough that a good mentor in DT started associating only with the younger movement because CWood treated Jalen, Tate, KPJ, etc, etc....like an AAU team. Allegedly, DT liked his role until Wood started demands on offense."
I mean, you could see that on the court. Wood was only happy when he was scoring. He visibly pouted and hid in the corner when he felt he wasn’t being featured enough. He never seemed to be excited when other guys made big plays.
Wood treating the young guys like they’re an AAU team is all kinds of funny. Like who is Christian Wood to look down on anyone?
Big time. He would scream on his own dunks down 30. Cried when Jalen dunked and didn’t see Wood open for a three. Wood is in the same tier as Dion Waiters. Let me get my points and that’s it.
I don't think it's just a matter of him being toxic. I think frankly we found ourselves in the unenviable position of having a player who would have been much more valuable a few seasons ago but right now is competing with John Collins, Jeremi Grant, Myles Turner, and Deandre Ayton all being on the trade block. Wish Stone pulled the trigger earlier last trade deadline instead of waiting, but I'm guessing there was a chance we'd get back even less, and if you're not going to get draft assets for Wood, then I'm not sure what type of player we'd want to add to this roster in exchange for him (definitely not a vet). I know some thought we could move up in the draft with Wood and a pick, but I'm guessing that 26 + 17 is going to give us a better shot of moving up (along with a player like Tate), and at least make us competitive in the move up trade market if OKC is dangling 30 + 12.
Yeah, again, I'd appreciate it if you'd not flip my words around to fit your narrative. I'm not saying that they didn't get offers of firsts for Gordon. I'm saying that I don't put a ton of stock into those rumors, personally. And I'm saying that Wood getting dealt for a first doesn't necessarily have any bearing on what Gordon will or won't get dealt for, because I think those circumstances are pretty different. I think I've said everything I care to say on the matter. Let's just agree to disagree, and if/when a Gordon deal happens, we can discuss it further. It's a good night for Rockets fans, and I'd rather not waste it bickering semantics on the internet like a teenager. We both have better things to do with our time.
An underrated aspect of the trade, subtraction by addition. In terms of production we are basically getting rid of Wood and bringing in the 3rd pick for next year. Wood was far and away the best player on last years team by any statistical measure. Swapping him with the 3rd pick which may take half a season to get accustomed to the nba like Green did all but assures another season of mountain of losses and a high pick coming next year, which is the last year we have control over our pick. And next years draft will be a deep one by the looks of it.
I still remember someone pulled up some obscure stat where Wood was being compared to Larry Bird. Man the 2021/2022 season was wild.
Definitely trade EG. He should've been gone. I was talking about possibly giving Burke a shot at backup PG. He's a decent backup PG for $3 mil, in my opinion.
I was never in favor of giving Wood the max, but after playing next to Luka, he may get a team to offer him one after all.
