Anyone else find it annoying that Stone grandstands about trading our top picks but never does?

Do you find Stone spamming that he’s open for trade annoying?

Two years in a row now. He repeatedly says he might trade the pick.

I get that’s hes open for business but it won’t affect his offers to repeatedly spam that thought.

Once we got the 3rd pick he said we might trade it like 30 times. I get it, our GM is edgy and unpredictable… he’s open to all possibilities and will never show his cards.

    It’s dumb though.

It’s not his job to repeatedly announce this to the public

Plenty of gms that actually do draft day trades don’t spam this to the public the whole month before

Takes two to tangle. The read is he's not actively calling but willing to take calls.

King's 4th and Blazer's 7th are usually mentioned for sale. When I see other teams or even kings/blazers themselves for trade ups scenario, OKC is usually mentioned instead of Rocket's 3rd, because Paolo is not on the consensus 1/2. Paolo overlaps to Sabonis too much. They rather a crack at Chet if Presti marches to his own drum.

It's more like few are willing to pay the price to get Paolo but be OK if he happens to naturally fall to them.

For the teams that could need a guard; some teams like the Clippers, maybe Boston, don't have the picks. NY maybe, but may not have too much to offer.

Things could change on draft night, as Jabari and Chet, one by one are gone, some GMs may fall into a case of fomo.

Conversations are had, not much revealed.

Is he organizing press conferences to say this? Or is he just answering questions that people ask him?

I’ve seen it once right after we got the pick in response to a question if we were “definitely keeping the pick”. How many other times has he done it?

I’m sure there’s a half dozen articles regurgitating the same quote, but that’s not Stone’s fault.

Coffee is for closers.....Stone got a 1/3 cup for moving Theis at the trade deadline.

Wood, Wall, and Eric Gordon? Still taking up space

Get it done Raf or, "No soup for you (Stone) !!"

So basically a GM said one time he might trade a pick and didn't. How did that even register in your life as a significant event?

He might trade the pick, it's always true and rarely happens. That's the whole NBA.

Of all things to b**** about....did we not just come out of the Daryl Morey era where everything was at the 1 yard line and how close we were to acquiring this player or that player? If you prescribed to the notion that real Gs move in silence then sure I guess you'd hate Stone but all he's really doing is reading from the "How to sound like a sports GM" book and executing it.

Not sure why Stone being honest with the public is annoying. He's not saying a trade is likely...only that the Rockets are doing due diligence.

His job is to create value and it's one thing to talk to GMs directly but it's another to create public perception/pressure. Which is proven to make humans question themselves including rival GMs and scouts.
